In answer to the inevitable questions, yes, they're still married.
Wow. She must be a saint!
My Dad sometimes introduces my Mama as "the light of my life", which is, to my mind, a step up from the greeting you mention. The rest of the time he calls her either Lizzie or Elizabeth, depending on the formality required, which she doesn't mind either, as it's her name.Mrs Zag and DD have shaved the dog so he looks like a cat.
Faced ridicule and public humiliations when walking him tonight.
Well I would do except for the fact that a someone walking a pet is the most invisible person you can get.
Unless you also own a pet!:D
Did they do that for any particular reason?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I'm loving my new (to me) peugeot 406. She may be 16 years old but compared to my old Astra, she is like having a brand new car!
£750 she cost and worth every penny.
My mother's got a 406, I think - it's a large-ish car, with a big boot. She previously had two 505s, when we were children, which were fantastic - 3 rows of seats, so all of us could fit in it comfortably, without having a people carrier type profile.
I borrowed the 505 just before I went to university (with my Mama's permission, of course) and went camping in France with 5 mates for a week. It fitted the 6 of us and all our camping gear in, no problem....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
OH is giving up on choosing between a merc convertable and the XF; now he has decided to replace the BMW5 with a newer one.
Problem is that the favoured colour is the colour he has at the moment, with a personalised number plate it won't look that different.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Which is a shame, as some of their older models were known for being able to run intergalactic mileages with no real issues.
I've heard that the newer cars are better, but of course really it's still too soon to tell.
We've been considering a low mileage used SL for Mrs McT, but have backed off the idea because of the reliability issue.
Now looking at BMW 6 series, new style Jag XK, etc, instead.
Was really pleasantly surprised at how reliable the newer Jags seem to be, with loads of high mileage success stories on the various online forums, and few known faults.... what a success story for British built cars.
I know a couple of blokes, one of whom served on the board of a vehicle company, who swear by Jags. Wouldn't drive anything else.
The way I look at it, you need to have a very good reason not to buy a Toyota. They're very reliable and pretty cheap to run. Clearly that's not the same thing as saying everyone should buy a Toyota but I think you should always think about why you aren't buying the best cars on the market as measured by those two things.0 -

Hope you and foundinrates are well and your extension is progressing nicely!?
I'll write updates at the other place - this place moves too quickly for an occasional visitor like myself.
Bandwidth error message, I'll attempt again later.

Mrs Zag and DD have shaved the dog so he looks like a cat.
!:D
Our dog had a haircut yesterday. The groomer also dog walks/holiday minds him so he is happy to see her, although he does not like being groomed....and her own dog is the girl dog our boy is in love with. So on balance he had quite a good day yesterday despite the bath and hair cut...and we have less moulted dog hair to hoover up.0 -
I call Mrs Generali Pumpkin or Sweetie most of the time, even when she crashes the car, something she does with alarming regularity.0

Wow! That takes me back a while. We bought one of those new when the kids were smaller, the one with 3 rows of seats, and we have fond memories. Very extravagant buying new, but it lasted 10 years until the recycling truck wrote it off, and they were almost impossible to find secondhand.
I remember driving that car in all sorts of situations with DW beside me and 5 children in the back. In Amsterdam, I stopped outside the train station, and a guy knocked on the window and offered me cocaine. Well, actually no, I'd just stopped to read the map.
And on the motorway, with all the rows occupied and the luggage space filled to the top, people would peer in as they zoomed past. Apparently, we were quite a spectacle. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
