Why don't things ever just go how they are meant to?0

I have a friend who's child (3) has severe asthma. The whole family (including siblings) have moved away from aerosols. I know his gran has bottles of pump action air freshener which she found, as opposed to aerosols.
This is your health & well being for goodness sake. These are your nearest & dearest. Does it mean that little to them that they can't make a very minor adjustment to their lives?
Problem is I react like this only occasionally, whereas all 3 men in this house use aerosol deodorants at least once a day.
They refuse to use roll-ons. It's a hair issue apparently.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Maybe that's my problem, I don't know any teenage boys aged 13-15... Except of course those that have been studying in my library and walking up to them and asking their hygene preferences may get me sacked!
I just recall the whole don't use aerosols thing of about 15-20 years ago when we chucked everything out and moved to trigger sprays and sticks instead so I was really surprised to find out how ubiquitous these things are. What happened to the whole teen angst save the planet thing;)? DH doesn't like roll ons but does use stick type. He is not particularly hairy though, so that may have something to do with it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I think hair might have a factor into how well people think the deodorant will get to the skin. I know dh occasionally buys a spray. Much to my disgust. ( I very, very rarely use hair spray...just when weather is really bad to seal out some moisture, I certainly haven't bought any since moving, say, two cans in the last ten years and I still have them both)
I find it hard to trust 'stick deodorants'. For some reason I think something that goes on wet and dries there should do a better job. No idea why.0 -
Apropos of nothing this article cheers me up.
Not that I'll ever visit any of these places but when I was a kid we didn't suspect they existed!
Do the NPs think we are "alone"?
Alone no. Close by and about to invade/zap people up for research/pop by for a cuppa, also no.
Having said that, looking at pics of earth from space, don't we have one of the most spectacular planets, in spite of what we do to it? Therefore if there were aliens capable of getting here, you'd think they'd want to stop by for a spot of tourism. That would give the pickpockets of the world's major tourist destinations something to think about.... I have pretty much always used the same stick type, never had a problem with the hairs, I can imagine a roll on is more of a pain with hairs and also drying time. But then I don't want to waft any smell at all apart from something slightly pleasant when close up whereas the aerosol users may be thinking they are communicating something with their 'perfume'. I do think the stick does less well at masking the odurs when I sweat now than it did when I was younger - not sure if that is because I/my diet has changed or they have changed the stick to make it cheaper to make or removed some nasty chemicals.
I do find sprays pretty intrusive though, our whole house already seems to smell like the Spannish student (luckily in a scenty/perfume way rather than a BO way) but I would still rather it didn't smell of anything.I think....0 -

Is it possibly to buy unscented aerosols?
It's certainly possible to buy scented other types. I find some of the ones I try overbearing.
Most of the time I could get by without anything. For me its hormone dependant now I am so inactive. bUT I also find things change, or my perception of them does, with different medication.
I used Mitchum for years, just because my sister did and I liked the talc smell. Now I think it smells like worn men's socks. Struggling to find one I like ATM at all.0 -

I use vaseline spray - doesn't smell of much, but nice to the extent it does smell.
OH doesn't like aerosols - he uses a stick-thing....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Hahahaha, this was not planned. Luckily no one fell badly or was hurt, just a foot came through the ceiling.0
