It's really windy and looks like rain, BUT I'm just off to see the Pandemonium Drummers performing outside St Jude's Church in Central Square NW11. Should be fun! Starts at 12.45, in case any NPs want to come on over.
http://www.promsatstjudes.org.uk/music_22.htmlNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
GDB, your posts seem full of quite a different sort of energy. Is it the summer? Or the retreat or a combination I wonder?
I have a flat tyre on the lawn mower so am inside drying off while dh fixes it. I eventually got outside having soent ages looking for dry work clothes of the right warmth and stepped outside in jeans and tshort as the heavens opened. By the timed dogs and I joined dh and slightly nervous client in the field I looked like an entrant in a wet t shirt competition. Kiwi looked like a small brown shrimp.
Oh, after last post dh came upstairs with an amazing try of breakfast...coffee (which I drank) and guava juice and delicious strawberry and mint salad and he'd baked muffins! He made chocolate ones, banana maple ones and lemon and poppy seed ones (lemon and poppy seed are often my favourite flavour) and made two of each. So we have a plate of half eaten muffins because we couldn't choose just one and dh ate two and a half and I had a bite of each of them. First even muffin baking and he makes three flavours.. He's such an over acheiver.

Sorry if I've offended the NPs. I guess that, if we all posted every time we did a sponsored walk/run/whatever, the post count would go up like crazy.
That wouldn't be a problem on this thread seeing as how we post that we prefer brown rather than clear vinegar.
The only issue is that if anyone knows where we live, burglars could find out we're away, so best to keep names and identifitable details off the page.

!
I fancy some vinegar now. On a spoon......
The geese keep coming in the house. Big dog is non plus see, kiwi is ecstatic, he loves the geese, but dog dog is terrified of the geese and is horrified by their intrusion.
We're thinking of putting the handful of survivor chokes in the little chook house by our house for the rest of summer, to give the parlour a good clean and scrub and attempt some anti rat planning.0 -
GDB - happy to see what you are up to and great cause who helped my friend so much.
We have had a good week on the chooks front...as we have 3 new chicks hatched under a broody.
I also have a new great neice - Phoebe:)0 -

I am now out of my depth with youngest. None of the old strategies are working anymore and any new ones I have tried have not worked either.
It was easier with middle son but then his diagnosis, although still an ASD, is different and he is not as severe as youngest and he has always been fairly aware of his difficulties. My problem now with youngest is that finally, he has developed self awareness and he doesn't like being different to his peers, before he was completely unaware that he was.
This doesn't just extend to his autism but his asthma too and he is now refusing to take his inhalers at school because it makes him different. He is refusing help in schooling, exams etc but then getting incredibly frustrated and stressed because he then cannot cope and he has taken to punching walls and hurting himself.
He can't sleep, he can't study and he can't cope and I am completely at a loss of how I can help him when he doesn't want to receive that help.
I have had to keep him off school for the last two days as he is in a bad asthma flare and needing his inhalers regularly during the day...and of course, he is refusing to take his inhalers at school, making it all very eek and dangerous to him.
I do have (yet) another meeting at the school on Monday and one with his asthma nurse on Wednesday but getting a referral back to CAMHS is pretty much a non starter due to their waiting lists (the doctor said yesterday it would be a waste of time as the appointment would probably come through for next year!) and we are close to crisis point now.
Arrgggghhhhhhhhhh! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Sue, Sorry to hear things are not going well. Does youngest realise that there will be a lot of children in school with medical issues, so he isn't the only one? There must be other children with asthma particularly.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Really sorry to hear that, Sue.
Do you know of other children in his year, or one or two above, who carry inhalers? Perhaps they could have a chat with him?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
