Sue - I can only express my admiration at your perseverance.

The thought struck me that young people - without ASD- can be stubborn and refuse to be reasoned with, so not doing what is ultimately for their good. I can see that this is "this" with knobs on.

As a teenager my DD was offered Max Fax surgery and Spinal surgery to correct a condition - she refused flat out, several times:mad:. The consequences progress as she gets older.

It should be a wake up call. However, there have been wake up loudspeakers in the each with double shot espresso cups and frankly...parent is a damn fool.

It falls on deaf ears and is extremely infuriating. Parents friend (someone who has far too much influence IMO) is a would be nutritionist and doesn't help. 'So and so says these nougats are ok' well...um, they might be, one or two with a eat, but a box instead of a meal or between meals,,,,,,not so much.

after much frustration and gnashing of teeth, buying of simple books on how to eat for managing through diet etc etc...of giving up and remember parent is an adult not my child. After going out of my way to produce food I cannot eat that was healthy and appropriate I found candy wrappers and healthy but not diabetes appropriate feasts taking place and so.....it's not my business.

The only thing I have had any influence on is alcohol. That's been done by threatening to call the police if the car is at the pub :o and not really be a use I care about the drinking but because I do care about drink driving. Dh has also had influence because while parent doesn't care what I think they do care what dh thinks. :o

Parent doesn't check blood sugar levels often. I used to prompt and it was then done but caused bad feeling. (i'm understanding it this week) its not my business, but dh had already talked with me and we had agreed that the appropriate response was a joke about how nice it was to have two feet/eyesight. (Which is not what we would normally do but what parent would...learn to speak the other persons language) or nothing (not what I would do but what dh would).

We once ordered my diabetic FiL a diabetic meal when we got the Eurostar. The nice lady who checked us onto the train told him we'd ordered such and he said rather grumpily, "I just ignore my diabetes".

Her response? "That's what my Grandad used to say. Then they cut his legs off".

FiL has had a series of heart attacks which he has mostly ignored. I think the last one he had was a wake-up for both him and MiL. My fear/belief is that it's too little, too late. It's a shame because he's still very sharp mentally: he completed an MA aged 69 a couple of years back. Physically he's FUBAR'd though I think.

The test failed to match you to a Kinsey Type profile. Either you answered some questions wrong, or you are a very unusual person.

    .

Lol, that makes two of us :rotfl: I don't think I'm so unusual sexually, not from what I've seen and experienced to compare to! ( and wouldn't mind whether I were or not if I'm Hal and meeting my own and sexual partners needs)

Edit...I don't care whether I am Hal or Sal ;). But I meant 'happy'

Parent just laughs at such comments. :(. Parent thought it was hilarious when a mutual friend ( who knows about the diabetes) asked how I was finding aren't living with me, while parent tucked in to a box of biscuits and I said, with a nod at the biscuits ' fine, shame it won't be for long'.

Anyway, I cannot criticise parent with a straight face this morning, I'm meant to have minima three litres of liquid on the pills, normally easy for me, but yesterday I fell short. This morning I have a 'dehydration' sort of head ache.

I really like the shirt the female presenter is wearing on bbc breakfast this morning. I think I want it.

    On Gen's test, I got:

Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

NP general stats update...divided on mushrooms, more likely to be Jewish or married (or shacked up with) some one Jewish, live in herts or greater herts or herts north of the border, and ( drum roll) are unusual and undefinable in their kinks and sexual preference?
