I got a very boring and plain 0 on the test...one of these days I will be someone exciting! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Bit of a funny story about middle son, he got a phone call from the school on Friday as they were worried there was some bullying going on due to his size as he had won an award in the student voted end of year awards.....for rear of the year!
Middle son laughed and said it was ok...as he had voted for himself in that category! .
What a star....and such wisdom.:T0 -

The thing is that 'normal' IS exciting in that context.
Dh and I were saying to our friends on Friday night we dislike the term 'vanilla' used in a derogatory fashion because it shouldn't be. Sexuality and safe, consentual sexual choices shouldn't be a competition. Healthy, safe, fulfilling hetero, monogamous sex is no less 'exiting' than a room full of healthy, safe consenting bods. IMO.
Exciting to me is happy, content, either secure in who you are or having fun finding out. It's not messing people around, playing unnecessary games in any context, and up for what you know you are up for, and not forced into what you know you are not, possibly with some wriggle room in the middle.. That can apply to any sexual situation with any players...one or a football team.

It's a test of how heterosexual/homosexual/asexual you are. I got a 0 which is unusual. When I answered as my mid-20s self I got a 3 which I found interesting as I only answered 1 question differently.
I got 0. Exculsively heterosexual.

I'm sitting feet up on a sofa while dh preps a cake for me. It would have taken me about 2o mins. We've been here for over an hour. An example. He won't use the grinder thingy to grind a cup of toasted pistachio nuts, so he's doing it painstakingly with the pestle and mortar. Which isn't big enough to do a lot at a time.0

I noticed the film Dennis was on this afternoon, I wondered if it was based on the character from The Beano, so I googled. In doing that I stumbled on a mind boggling coincidence.:eek:On March 12, 1951, Hank Ketcham's Dennis the Menace comic strip first hit American newspapers. It's still running to this day, in more than 1,000 newspapers, because comic strips never, ever die.Just a few hours before Ketcham's Dennis the Menace hit the nation, on the opposite side of the Atlantic, issue No. 452 of the British comic The Beano hit newsstands even though it was dated 17 March, 1951. This particular comic was notable for featuring the first appearance of what went on to become cartoonist David Law's most famous creation Dennis the Menace.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

And there are more.
I read that Baekeland who patented Bakelite beat a rival to the patent office by only a couple of hours otherwise it would have ended up with a totally different name.
There's a great book Serendipity which I'd recommend everybody read. One course I teach on involves discussing the properties of aspirin (and getting them to make it) and all its health benefits and then discussing the properties of heroin (then NOT making it) and getting them to find out that they were both made by the same process (acetylation) and that stable forms of them were first produced by the same company (and in fact the same person). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
