In the land of the living. But chuffed to be proven right and gp was wrong.
The nhs definitely isn't what it used to be
I don't know how it used to be.
I know my mother was horrified having me in the uk....a fair while ago, compared to her first experience.
I do know it was excellent for my sibling as a child (had ongoing medical treatment for a terrible accident starting when very tiny and continuing to fully grown). But that was basic and 'necessary' treatment. Something well honed through war medicine.
Neurology was cleaner and quieter than eye clinic, but it was still not 'clean'. My finger checked the rail on the wall and was filthy. (Hand level, and yes, washed my hand afterwards). Disconcertingly it was painted the colour of my kitchen. I'm wondering if io have chosen really badly:rotfl:0 -
You might have thought that would be something that should be fixed quite quickly in a neurology dept... I'm guessing that's what treatment for epilepsy comes under.
Sorry to hear the tales of NHS woe. I can add another (less serious) one. My mum got a call last Wednesday offering her an appointment this Friday for the knee replacement she is waiting for. She got another call yesterday postponing itI'm sure it is just one of those things, but the thought of waiting for another 6 weeks (which is the new appointment she has been given) is tough.
Thoughts with you both, missk and viva.
In the interests of balnce re the NHS stories, I remember my friend who had cancer got called in 5 days early for their operation.
That was (I think) 7 years ago now (perhaps approaching 8?). Still alive & kicking, & has seen 3 grandkids arrive that they really were unlikely to see.:)
The support & treatment they got was, I have to say, fantastic. Of course, part of my belief in this is that they are still here! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Feeling hugely bloated.:o
Remember the frined who was going through detox? 1 Full month passed yesterday completely clean.
Went out for a celebratory meal, & over did it slightly.
I believe it was also his first visit to licenced premises too, so it was kinda a test as well as celebration. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Where I work they have swish looking washbasins, three in a row set to a single flat sheet 'worktop', problme is they are about 10 inches acorss whereas trhe worktop is huge so everytime anyone washes thier hands lots of water is left of said flat surface (it is flat so the water doesn't drain back in to the sinks and it looks a mess - no doubt it was designed by some one who thought it would look swish without considering the practicality.
The taps are also motion sensor activated, it is fun watching the building newbies try and figure out how to wash their handsI think....0 -
So, following hot on the heels from some comedy on Friday night, I've been out solo to my first gig since becoming officially single again. Can tell I have a proper job as a) I'm not drunk and b) I kept thinking about work. Was good though
Edit: it also crossed my mind that I was missing newsnight!0 -

So, would just like to say, after worrying I might wake up under a cloud of chemical depression I feel just perfectly chipper.
Excellent. Glad the new drug hasn't topped you.
This morning I feel a bit of a fraud. Look alright just a bit of pain in my stomach where I feel like I've been punched.0 -

I don't think feeling punched should equal feeling fraudulent. :rotfl:
Any one used non alcoholic wine for cooking? I just want a white for a light sauce. (Wouldn't normally worry but don't think I'll heat for long enough to cook most of the alcohol off and don't want to add alcohol into mix with new pills as I like feeling chipper and want to be fair to them and my old body):D0 -

I really liked the washbasins at the Sydney Opera House. So much so that I asked my husband to go and photograph them. He told me in no uncertain terms that taking a camera into a communal man's toilet is not the done thing:o.
ETA: they look like this, which I think is lovely. There's no plug hole, just a wave of basins with a trough along the back into which the water drains. I think they are fab:Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
