The two of your are like my kids. Hawaiian is that standard pizza at my house - with all the pineapple on one half for DS (who likes ham under circumstances but not on pizza) and all the ham on the other half for DD (ditto pineapple).
You all seem to have a lot of brainspace and energy for devoting to selecting and preparing food. Part of my burn-out is not having much of either. Kids and I get pretty good, varied, cheap, cooked food at school. (Well, DD and I do, and if DS eats very similar food every day I haven't the energy to do anything about it. There are worse things he could be eating every day than his preferred combination of tuna baguette, fruit/salad and pizza slice.) In the evenings we eat whatever I can be bothered to cook. If I try to vary it, one or other of them doesn't like it anyway. I do cook interesting things when somebody else is coming round. Maybe when my mental health improves I will be able to take more interest in cooking. For now, there are other things that are a higher priority.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Over the last few days I have been drinking fresh watermelon juice. It is lovely.

You all look healthy enough to me. When you feel better cooking may be part of vigour of life for you...otherwise, so long as you eat, and more healthy than not, you are doing enough.
Ironically of course, some would say diet can support you ...:D
Gazpacho week ( I love gazpacho summer,..,,it frees my mind for other things whilst being real and very good food) means that I am more excited about trying to cook ribs (not something I care to easy myself) and to take care of my dh that way.
A few weeks ago, maybe after special girl...not sure, really wished everyone would just eat bread and water......we coped. I know very clearly how I feel and what I eat ( both health wise and emotionally) are fairly related. Not necessarily in a straight forward manner. I feel happy after a plate of pasta, but sore and swollen, I feel healthy after a prepared fruit salad, but not so much when I am cold, then I feel cold, sugary and unfulfilled.
Because I have to balance very few calories because of stupid broken metabolism, its important to me to get it right as much as I can. Dh and I do not like, for example, when I eat separate meals, so things like to night where we have the same salad and he has calorific meat, work better for us.0 -

It's just a syrup with a mint base. (all quantaties subject to change at whim)
So, say, 1 1/2 cups of water
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup cider apple vinegar
1/2 cup of fresh mint, shredded
Make a syrup (bring water to boil, stir in sugar, keep stiring until it is disolved), add the vinegar, bring it back to boil then simmer for 30 minutes (will stink out the house) then remove from the heat and shove the mint in. Cover it with a lid, allow to cool, then put the mixture into the fridge.
To serve, dilute it with water to taste, add ice, maybe garnish it. Use carbonated water if you can get it.
As a rule, I strain off the mint the next day and put it into ice cube containers, then just pope them out and defrost a couple when I want it as a drink.

I feel I should admit, I copied what Gen saidI can't even pretend it was a typo. I was in a bit of a rush and got as far as thinking, 'thats funny, its the same as the car', the cog didn't turn quite as far as thinking 'it shouldn't be the same as the car'. GCSE French was a long time ago now!
Your DD has great taste.
Selecting food doesn't take much for me - its whatever I find with a reduced sticker on it.
I do use a bit of brainspace making it all into meals though.
e.g. tonight I've made up some lamb curry from a combination of reduced things I've bought this week/ things that needed using up (things I've bought and things my mum gave me when I visited 2 weeks ago)
and had steak, salad, some veg, potato wedges and a couple of onion rings (yes, it sounds a lot - and it was... I generally do a generous brunch and a feast of a dinner at the weekend and miss out the separate third meal. I've also been for an hours swim therefore I've earnt it :cool:)
Cooking is also a great distraction technique... eating is a necessity after all0 -

I have finished my feast... and an additional wrinkly apple cooked with a little butter (well buttery substitute) and sugar and plonked in a bowl with some ice cream. I bought the ice cream a few months ago. There wasn't a freezer in the studio flat I lived in for a few years, so having my own ice cream at home is still a novelty - although now it is a mostly empty box (1 serving left) which I could do with getting rid of to free up some room.
