Oh dear, I have a blocked ear. Just shoved olive oil down it but its very disorienting. Any other tips?

Yes that's horrid. I get it occassionally - sticking ear drops and oil in there won't do anything if it is already blocked with wax - that will just make it easier to clear when you go to the gp. Both times I've needed to have mine syringed I had it done at a bupa clinic which cost about £70 as I couldn't stand waiting as I found it so unsettling- and ive got private insurance, but I think NHS walk in centre will do it for you if you can't get a gp appointment at short notice.

The earblocking drops are cheaper to buy than use prescription for. (I won't publish the brand name as I think it's against forum policy ) I often had it. It's not a hassle getting it done, nor is it unpleasant- the practise nurse will do it. It tends to recur but I haven't needed it in 20 years.

I will not bite...I will not bite!

I have come in here to stop me posting on another thread and getting myself het up....grrrr.

Anyway, how did everyone's holiday time go?

My parent's went away to their caravan over the weekend, we were supposed to go as well but the timings were just not right with things organised for the boys plus my car is playing silly beggers a little. In retrospect, it may have been better if we had as dad had a fall during Saturday night and mum had to struggle to get him back up again and then had another fall the early hours of this morning.

He is getting so unstable on his feet now but will he entertain the idea of getting a frame or even using two sticks (he has used a stick since 1972) to help his mobility? Nope!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Our holiday was uneventful (which is pleasing).

I understand your concerns. You need to help your dad avoid further falls. Two sticks may be what he needs.

I can understand the reluctance but it's really important.

    Good luck, SingleSue.:)

I was born in Hemel Hempstead. Was it Morcambe and Wise who said, "If people from Poland have Polaroids, do people from Hemel Hempstead have...."? I can say the answer is no..

I was born in Sukhumi, which at that time was part of the USSR, transferred to the Isani Military Hospital (where my mother worked), and grew up in Rustavi, Zugdidi, Tbilisi and what is now Argun (which is now in the Chechen Republic).

My father was a diplomat, so we had the privilege of visiting the closed zones (Perm, Rostov and Nakhodka were 3 of those I remember; I used to love the Trans-Siberian Railway as a young kid), and we also moved regularly. My mother is a doctor (and has practiced in the UK since 1995).

I've lived in the UK since 1992-3, mainly around London :)

It does work, eventually, but takes a long, long time.

They will not syringe mine because I have had a perforated ear drum plus the brain stuff impacts on my ears,

Syringing is a much better, quicker option.

If you run out of gardening of your own to do, you can always pop round here. I'll bring you mugs of tea whilst applauding your efforts. :)

    It's a man's t-shirt with a lyric on from Steve Miller Band's the Joker.

It made me laugh because a man can wear it and it also subliminally says "some call me the gangster of love". However it has to be worn with a certain degree of confidence because another lyric is some people call me the space cowboy...

Thanks for explaining. I had no idea. Not that the explanation makes much sense, as I've never even heard of Steve Miller. :o

    Good luck to Mrs Generali.

    I recognise that lyric too.

Another one that whooshed right past me - please don't explain! :)
