Ah yes, the fly swatter. I must get DH one of those for the hot summer days. I'd forgotten about those. Thanks!

From what I remember the fly swatter comes with a free naked man. Or did I get that wrong?

Sounds like a bargain! Very MSE. I will order two and they can have a swat off.

It was awful, seriously.....I imagine its how parents feel when their little darlings have precocious monologues or tantrums. Though parents often seem to get that indulgent smile while their darlings behave much like my dogs did that night:o

I shouldn't have laughed at your dogs' antics, but they sound no more embarrassing than my kids. And in this country people indulge dogs more than kids, although in Italy (just as an example) it's the other way around.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Moral maze for the NPs. I received this email from my DD:

"Would it be really immoral to buy a book off amazon, quote a few
pages, then return it? I could have got it from my library and can go
to IOE library to read it otherwise, and it's not a book I would
    otherwise have bought. Your thoughts?"

She knows perfectly well what the answer is, but in mitigation the book is £25, she's a trainee teacher, and she needs it just for one assignment.

    What would you advise?

Can she not find any excerpts via google? My searches often bring up book chapters and if you're lucky the bit you want isn't one of the 'missing' pages.

Wouldn't it be less grief to get it from the library or read it in the library?

Curiously enough, no, it is not less grief. She's at uni in Kent, but she's with us in London at the moment. Amazon will deliver in a day for nothing (we have Amazon Prime), and they will pay for return postage too.

That has nothing to do with the moral side of things, but from a purely practical point of view it really is very straightforward to order it and then return it.

    Apparently not.

OK, then, from a moral point of view, I think it's a bit iffy, personally. But I don't feel strongly about it.
