I remember a TV critic once lamenting that Brookside Close seemed so disaster-prone that emergency service crews must cross themselves every time they drive near it. I wonder how long this would keep happening befere the emergency services became concerned about the medical emergencies arising at the same address!

Seriously though, this bothers me a bit. For the people in the life or death situation I can sympathise. But I'd hate to think that somebody resident here didn't get dialysis/ surgery expensive drugs who 's been paying their NI finds out that it's not happening because somebody snuck in and took their place.

Not all emergencies are blue lights - patients walk in through ED/urgent referrals from a GP. The reality is that the extra patients may take precedence and add to the waiting list. I know that when I was an emergency an 'elective' booked patient would have been cancelled 'due to an emergency'. I felt very guilty, the surgeon explained that my need was greater - a key bit of plumbing was 99% blocked I did not have any time I could wait. Bl**dy hard for the poor soul who was expecting to be admitted, psyched themselves up, packed a bage, arranged social support etc and then found themselves cancelled the day before.

To be honest, it isn't that much of a posh alert. They do tend to put as many people into it as possible. I've always thought that burks peerage is basically a scam...

As in, they find some tenuous connection to nobility, send you a letter, and you end up spending a bleeding fortune to snob it up among all your friends.

If I had the resources I'd do the same thing in America...

I'd write a book charting the descendants of the pilgrims, and get all the snobbish Americans to pay out for the privilege of appearing in it.:D

I've been getting strange, occasional tingling in two left hand fingers for the past hour.... it feels like I've got 2-3 loose head hairs on my fingers, so I go to remove them, but it's a tingling and no hairs.

It's catching me out every time.... must be laughing at me.

That's odd. Might even be worth going to the doctors about if it keeps it up... maybe repetative strain from typing too much?

    sounds like a fabulous weekend!

It pretty much was :) Would have been easy to sit around the house doing not-a -lot, but one parent is likely to have a lot of sitting-around-the-house-doing-not-a-lot-time coming up hopefully pretty soon, plus they are feeling quite down at the moment. BBQ was their suggestion, the rest of it was mine. Think it had the desired effect (I certainly feel like I've been away on holiday) :)

Fwiw I think four is a lot too. Not that its any of my business what Anyone decides to do personally, Its a general thing, not a personal one.

    I am 3rd of 4. 1 boy.

My mum had 7 altogether sadly her first born son died when a few hours old and twin boys between my sister and I were a bit premature and did not survive.

Excellent. what about this thesis business then? :p;)

I'm such a sucker for punishment. Saw a job advertised and thought it sounded ideal so i'm applying for it. But only 50/50 wanting to leave :o (although technically, I am only employed for 7 more months)
