It could have been a lot worse.....I asked one of my drivers to get some cases of champagne for an anniversary celebration. He came back happy as Larry with a couple of cases for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately he hadn't realised what the words on the label that said 'sans alcool' meant:o. Oh well, quick dash to a local supermarket!

Old girl's number is almost up. Another infection, this time in her lower jaw. It's still not slowing her down or causing her any pain. My bet and I were just poking around in her mouth.

She also has developped what is essence is hay fever. Bit sticky for a horse that one. We think that its just because she is so old and depleted now. However, she munched on her lunch then pushed past vet to get to the back garden ( where the grass is soft and sweet and so where she likes spending a portion of each day). Her ears are still forward and she is happy and interactive.

We felt we could have done it today without it feeling 'wrong', so many people would have done it years ago, but that it didn't have to be today. It will be very, very soon though. We really cannot see it being more than a fortnight.

It's very sad but it comes to us all.

You should be proud to be so considering an owner: I've met a fair few that'll do what it takes to avoid the expense and beggur the suffering.

LJ, I know you will understand.

I have sproutage too.:T I am a very unsuccessful gardener so I need the encouragement.

Hispi cabbages, runner beans and lupins (in the potting shed) and lettuce in a cloche in the veg patch.

One of the courgettes I planted is looking as if something has had a go at it...might be chooks:(

    :T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Done a lot of weeding. Still lots to do mind!
    Repotted the flowers into tubs.
    Put the hanging basket out.
Thinned out way too many carrots. Also noticed the carrots in the polytunnel thing are showing sproutage!
Only bad news, is still no movement on the ginger.

Will need to repot first toms, cucumber and beetroot next weekend...

Sorry to hear that lir.... it's a terrible thing to try and get the timing 'right' between too soon and too late. It sounds as if she is still on the right side for quality of life for the moment.

We've just received the draft of Isaac's report from the educational psychologist, with a request for some further information. She definitely thinks he is dyslexic :(, and his writing and reading scores are both really quite low, below his chronological age.

Apologies if I'm oversimplifying this, but do you love him any less as a result?

Thought I should update peeps on a couple of events:

Went to see 2 Harold Lloyd films at the weekend. Never seen the likes before. One film (The Freshman) was being premiered with its brand new score. Carl Davis/Davies is the composer, & it was the CBSO. Very new experience form me.

Then, Sunday (yesterday) after lots of repotting carrots! I went to see the specials. It doesn't make it alright.....!

Going to see Derren Brown on wednesday too. Quite a busy time!

Technically I am not her owner. :o

I have known her for a long time, and rode her a bit when she was still competing. Special girl went to live with old girl when I couldn't find anywhere else I wanted her to be locally, and discovered old girl was by herself. I didn't actually recognise old girl then. Anyway, long story short, old girl has been with us ever since. She has an owner. He now lives rather near you Gen.

PS agree with some other posters. Have had to very much skim read - partially as eurovision has absolutely no interest for me, but also you lot have whizzed through 30+ pages since I last logged in last friday! NPT is becoming a bit of a f-t job if you want to keep up fully.

LIR it is amazing how people suggest these things come in 3's I've always thought.
3 close-is work colleagues have all lost their fathers within the space of a week.
Probably just coincidence, but it struck me...
