I share an office with a United fan - in fairness he was born in Manchester and we work within walking distance of the ground, so it's pre-occupying his mind somewhat.

Good luck with the health worries, Gen.

He must be something of a rarity at Old Trafford, being a Mancunian. The last Man U fan I met was our new Chief Compliance Officer from Chicago so much more typical.

I wonder who'll take over? The owners seem very professional so will have succession in place I'm sure. The fan protests seem to have died down since Man U started winning stuff again. It'll be very amusing when Man Utd go on a proper losing streak as they will. Let us not forget that sports are effectively a weighted random number generator. Anything with a random element will come up with big, apparently non-random sequences.

Millinery is a bit of a passion for me ( think it counterbalances a world of trucks and pallets), so hats are always the first thing I go for, though I tend to make my own.

    Wow, clever, clever woman!!

I may have mentioned that he is a very rare breed.

The fan protests were always going to die down as long as they kept winning. Wasn't Ferguson talking about leaving around about the time Glazers took over, or is my memory not serving me well?

If I was clever lir, I'd come up with a way of storing them that didn't require requisitioning an small room:p

Noticed that all 12 cucumbers I planted have sprouted!

Planning this weekend to be for seperating carrots. Not helped by the fact I'm supposed to be decorating.
Have also found snails trying to get at my lettuce twice this week! Grr!

No, a room full of hats sounds great to me!

I love hats but tend to be very tame in my choices. From competing I have toppers in two heights and bowlers, and felt hats as well as beaglers, but girly hats are harder. I have a few suitable for autumn/ winter things (felts with feathers, a fedora that sort of thing) but admit to finding summer hats harder.

I love a big traditional sun hat, but then find it hard to see 'out' which I find very frustrating.

Edit: mine also live in boxes...more than one to a box, which I 'm sure must be a no no. May be we need a hat tutorial bugslet?

What's not to love about a hat room? I'm sure it would generate a Posh Alert though.

Posh alert -not in a three bed semi:p

Hat tutorial - apart from don't stick two in the same box:eek:, rest the hat on something so that the brim is lifted off the base of the box. Cheapest and easiest is to make a cardboard cone with the top pointy bit cut off and rest the hat on that.

Brims that are downturned, naturally draw the eye down ( I know, came as a bit of a surprise that one:o), brims that upturned....so try to find an upturned brim as a) you can see out and b) it lifts your whole appearance.

Anyway, dress problem is solved NDG, buy a mega mega hat and then wear a simple dress - sorted.

OH is having a mid life crisis - he wants a soft top (car).

That's not a mid life crisis.
When I last changed cars (5 years or so ago) I wanted a convertable - though I have to say I want a hard top convertable.
I didn't get one, because I got a way better offer came along.

Hard top convertible *sigh*, have had two VX220s, they were great fun and ridiculous all at the same time. Let the last one go when I realised that 6 dogs meant I'd only used it about 10 times the previous year.

Female here. You mean soft top doesn't equal convertible? Oops.

He is looking at the Merc E class convertible. Is that soft top or hard top? All I know is that you press a button and the roof disappears into the boot.

Was Fergie the Best Manager Eva? Maybe. Old Big 'Ed (Brian Clough) must be up there. Also Shankley, Chapman (spit) and Bill Nicholson for turning their teams into the start of clubs that would go on to win trophies for decades. Nobody comes close for longevity and numerical success.

The three men in this house support Man City (the Mancunion obviously ), Man United & Arsenal.
