I've got to go to the Docs with what I'm reasonably sure is a precancerous mole so I'll get him to do the blood test. It only costs about $20 after my Medicare rebate and even then I get to offset the $20 against tax if I spend more than $1500 in the year on medicine, which I have due to dental bills.
Hi Gen, a quick point on pre-cancerous moles. I don't know how the system in Australia works, it may be more cautious than here due to sun exposure. When I had my initial examination the doc found the worrying mole as well as four abnormal ones that had the capability of being pre-cancerous. These were graded accordingly. I want to say that the scale was out of ten. Because they were low scoring they were left, if they were higher, they would have been taken out there and then. Subsequently and at check up, one of them had changed a little and this was whipped out.
If you are a "moley" or freckley person anyway, it's worth you and Mrs gen just making a note of your moles. Look for any freckles that may be a bit darker than the others, or that you think have changed. I'm pretty sure that the docs will give you a good going over with a dermatoscope anyway, but it's all worth keeping an eye to. Make sure you ask them when you see them what you should be looking for relative to your own skin.
I can see my three remaining potential to be precancerous moles as they are on my legs and I check them regularly. I never sunbathe, never wear shorts or skirts that don't practically reach the floor. The one on my neck was taken off after my husband noticed it had changed, so its definitely worth having another pair of eyes on the case. Sounds like Mrs G is well drilled in this and helped find the first one anyway of course.
Good luck with whatever happens at the weekend and always remember, even if it is the worst and is melanoma, the survival rate for early stage identification and treatment is exceptionally high. My cousin, who is in his late 40s and was diagnosed on his 21st birthday is my personal living proof of that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

The thing is, there are a range of causes of these problems and it is dangerous to self diagnose since the tendancy is always to go for the most severe possible diagnosis.
Plus, as a rule, it is unwise to give up alcohol without speaking to your doctor first if you are a heavy drinker.
No. I've thought he was going to resign for a while, I think he would have resigned last year if he had slighly more luck. Wanted to go out on a high, and he is getting old.
I agree and I agree in that order.
Was Fergie the Best Manager Eva? Maybe. Old Big 'Ed (Brian Clough) must be up there. Also Shankley, Chapman (spit) and Bill Nicholson for turning their teams into the start of clubs that would go on to win trophies for decades. Nobody comes close for longevity and numerical success.0 -

Yep, I can't stand the hotmail/outlook changes either. Plus for me the system seems really unreliable. Continuous freezing...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
OH is having a mid life crisis - he wants a soft top (car).
That's not a mid life crisis.
When I last changed cars (5 years or so ago) I wanted a convertable - though I have to say I want a hard top convertable.
I didn't get one, because I got a way better offer came along.
I'll need to change car again in a couple of years I reckon, & still want one. Time to start looking... It takes me forever to make a decision:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I agree .
I have mahoosively cut back my drinking in recent years, but I did it slowly.
Not uncommon for me to drink just two or three glasses of wine in a week these days. Whereas 5 years ago it wouldn't be uncommon for me to drink two or three bottles in a day on the weekend.
Still quite happy to have the odd big night, but they're few and far between these days.
Feel much better for it too.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

FWIW, given the choice I don't usually use a company that uses hotmail/gmal as the email address. I find it a bit sus and also perhaps unprofessional.
Pure prejudice of course.0 -

I made the mistake of going and looking at that.....it's one of those sites that you think, 'just 5 minutes', then half an hour later.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Sorry to hear about Little Bill, bugslet. What sort of dog was he? Are you OK?
I think you might be right about the hat first. I clearly need to go to John Lewis and try some things on.
Black and white Papillon with ears that doubled up as satellite dishes! I've still got 5 so I'm not short of dog love.
Millinery is a bit of a passion for me ( think it counterbalances a world of trucks and pallets), so hats are always the first thing I go for, though I tend to make my own.0 -
If you use gmail you can attach a domain to it, no problem ( http://www.shoestringbranding.com/2008/02/15/branded-gmail-address/ ). You can also forward your existing hotmail email to gmail ( http://www.ehow.com/how_5146485_forward-hotmail-gmail.html ). So, it is pretty easy to switch.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I share an office with a United fan - in fairness he was born in Manchester and we work within walking distance of the ground, so it's pre-occupying his mind somewhat.
Good luck with the health worries, Gen.lemonjelly wrote: »Yep, I can't stand the hotmail/outlook changes either. Plus for me the system seems really unreliable. Continuous freezing...
I don't use hotmail for business, but have it for personal e-mail. Along with the 'joy' of Windows 8, it's not been an especially fun fortnight.lemonjelly wrote: »That's not a mid life crisis.

Hard top convertible *sigh*, have had two VX220s, they were great fun and ridiculous all at the same time. Let the last one go when I realised that 6 dogs meant I'd only used it about 10 times the previous year.0 -
