We just got back from this place - the second time I have eaten there, took us nearly three years to get a table again....

I highly recommend reading the latest review, it is very funny!

This used to be the highest rated restaurant in London on tripadvisor but now Richmond seems to get its own category so it is slightly less prestigious now.

The mad owner wasn't there tonight which was a shame. We did have 5 starters, 2 pasta dishes, a main and dessert though! Ludicrous amount of food, I am about to burst.

That place looks worth knowing about! Is there anywhere to park nearby?

It is on Red Lion st in Richmond - there is metered parking along that road should be free after 6 or 7pm. I don't think they would understand anyone who was driving though - they attack you with wine and pour grappa over your dessert before you can say no, then drug you with limoncello when you try to pay. Best get a taxi!

It isn't cheap - £40 for food per head and they just serve you whatever they like, £25 for wine per bottle and you can only choose red or white... But compared to other places in london where you get charged £200 for a fairly average three course meal it does represent value for money given the amount of food you actually get. I'd like to go there for a group meal as it would be a great place to go with a group of 6 or 8 for an evening, but god knows how you get a table for that many.

I remember about 30 years ago being told about this place in Soho http://wongkeilondon.com/ - it was famed for the rude owner. People booked there to be insulted and would complain if the owner wasn't rude enough.

Reading TA, it's still got its reputation for that: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d720949-r123983928-Wong_Kei-London_England.html

I've been to Wong Kei, albeit many years ago. I always eat Chinese food with chopsticks, but snigger every time I hear about that place as I recall my colleague being told very tersely "no fuks, chopsticks only". It was a good cheap meal though.

One day soon I am going to have a shower that doesn't't run cold every minute or so. Rinse my hair in one go, shave my legs without yodelling as the water turns from nice to ice then right up to hot hot hot.

I,m sure this will have a beneficial Impact on my temper!

Forgot to mention yesterday, but was prompted by Gen's conversation regarding loss of sense of smell.

I had earache over a week ago now, & as mentioned, it hurt!
First night was right ear. The next night was left. The night after it switched back to right.

Since then, I haven't had pain. However, my ears have felt bunged up, & my hearing hasn't been spot on. Indeed it fluctuates through the day. Certain times (nights usually) it seems that hearing is restricted in both ears! I think it is a cold that is taking an exceptional length of time to go. But my hearing sounds like I have my head in a bucket of water.

For me this is massively worrying - I love listening to music as much as anything. I've had music on in the car & haven't been able to hear quiet bits (& appreciating that contrast can be quite important!)

I hope it clears soon, however a small part of me has on occasion wondered/worried about how I'd feel if it became permanent.:(
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
