I need new car mats! Can do without the furry dice but I def need new car mats.

A decent car to go with it would be good too :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Something that is a treat? Like a day out with luvveerr (they can put towards admission fee)? Afternoon tea? Failing that, do you have a wishlist on Amazon?

I have suggested a treat like thing, so good thinking.

Amazon wish list? Well the boys have plenty on there, mine is completely empty. Sometimes it is a real pain not being materialistic.

    I need help!

Can anyone come up with birthday present ideas? The person involved will be 43, doesn't like girly things like handbags or shoes, loves books but is very choosy which ones and is not at all materialistic.

Yep, my birthday next week and everyone keeps asking me what I want...beggered if I know!

    Jewellery?

    Amazon vouchers?

The experts now predict that it would have shown itself soon enough anyway. Of course, short of you having had identical twins and only jabbing one, we can never know.

Even that wouldn't help. There are two families that I know (I mean people I actually know personally, not just people I've heard of) where one twin is autistic/aspie and the other isn't. Certainly in one of those families the twins are identical - I'm not sure about the other family, because I no longer near them and haven't seen the kids since they were babies, although I've seen at least one of the adults to talk to quite recently.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

"It was once thought that poor parenting caused autism. This is definitely not true. Although the cause of autism is unclear, it is known that genetics do play a role. The disorder is seen often in identical twins: different studies have shown that if one identical twin has autism then there is a 63-98% chance that the other twin will have it. For non-identical twins (also called fraternal or dizygotic twins), the chance is between 0-10% that both twins will develop autism. The chance that siblings will be affected by autism is about 3%."

I don't know where the 63-98% comes from. It seems rather a wide but precise gap, and 60-90% is mentioned elsewhere.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Is 98% 2 standard deviations from 100%? I can't even remember if it works like that. I've forgotten so much statistics; it's really depressing

    Maybe try something new?

Maybe drop a hint about something from this site. I got DW a flight over London through them.:)
