My sisters, brother and I didn't have the whooping cough vaccine, and I didn't have the cholera one for India either, because my uncle had epilepsy as a teenager and young adult, and those two jabs were contra-indicated.

That sort of thing I'm happy to take advice about.

OK ... annoyed ... and now need to move soonish - so, seriously looking for a house. But I also have to check legal fineprint.

Moved in here, tenancy ends in 5 weeks. For the purposes of keeping it simple let's call it ending on 31st May.

Received letter from agent "... LL would like to offer you a further fixed term..." - well, I want periodic, that's not diffiicult for me to say.do. Rent to stay the same, but I'll have to start paying the gas bill myself as they had a new one put into my part (was shared) this month. New gas obligation to start at new tenancy date.

Question is: How much notice of this additional charge should I be given? Is 5 weeks legally sufficient? Or is there some other amount of time (e.g. 2 months).

Very cleverly worded to make people think that they have to get out (in 5 weeks) or pay the £60 renewal.

All very underhand really. Good job I know people (NPs).

Enclosed form gives two choices: I want another 6 months, I wish to leave at the end of the current term. No mention of periodic. Cheeky chaps.

But if it's going to periodic, then it's not a new tenancy. It's the old one carrying on.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Pasturesnew, phone them up and negotiate.

(Most periodic tenancies can be ended at a months notice IIRC, but it depends what your contract says) .

Ask advice from the house buying, renting etc board first. Some of the landlords over there will give you all the expert advice you could ever need. :)

Our DKs expect an internet device each so unless we splash out on getting them all tablets/laptops I can't see us having 3PCs in the kitchen/family room.

There's an impressive cloud burst here in central London - it's raining so heavily that it's really noisy, water bouncing off he pavements.

    Sunny here.

Been looking at potential houses. Bottom line is: where I want to be they don't make houses that have everything I want. I can get most of what I want (they'd do) 3 miles inland. But, on investigating any I might be vaguely interested in sniffing around (nothing exciting or promising) they're asking £30k grand more than they paid for them in the past 2 years.

    Annoying :)

If you lot could organise a whip round to give me £60k the search'd be easier :)

To be fair though asking pricing are always higher than selling prices so you would expect that even if prices hadn't changed.

I think the grooming is a big one really. And it's on perfectly safe sites..kids sites, nothing inappropriate that could be filtered really.

DS2 was befriended online by a teacher at his school. Innocent we thought, until he went to prison for grooming, dodgy images....

Who would say no to a child wanting to natter to their teacher online?
