Sorry, I meant as a tourist. I don't know what would happen if someone was in that situation but you'd hope compassion would be shown. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

My first in English Legal History comes to the fore!
Bona Vacantia is the name for the process, and it might well have been motivated partly because of the cost of tracing, but I reckon mostly because it meant the Treasury got more cash (-:
There are weird exceptions to the Treasury Solicitors department, though, which doesn't deal only with people dying intestate, but also with random leftovers from companies and so forth. The T Sols deal with it in England and Wales, unless it is from the Duchy of Lancaster or Duchy of Cornwall, in which case some random solicitors firm deals with it. I don't know what happens in Scotland and N Ireland, but it's neither T Sols nor the random solicitors.
ISTR that the power under the Royal Perogative (sp?) goes back to the conquest in common law....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I don't think compassion and the US medical system are even distant acquaintances.
However, if you have to be uninsured and injured, it would be much better ot be injured in a terrorist attack (massive fundraising, sympathy, etc) than in a boring old car accident or fall, in which case you'd probably go bankrupt....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Re Bona Vacantia and tracing peoples' estates. I wonder how much more difficult this will be in the future given the Data Protection Act. We regularly get people in our library asking to see the electoral roll and have to explain the changes. Surely sooner or later the information in the public domain that they are using will be too out of date to be useful, or am I being naive in the business of people tracing? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Absolutely awful, I was busy researching drum sticks with middle son when I refreshed my Facebook page and saw all these comments....I still don't understand why people have to harm others. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

If buying is going to wipe out your liquid assets and you're going to be running it as a business, I'd be inclined to get a mortgage for some of the purchase price. It allows you more diversification, it's tax efficient which mitigates the cost of the interest and anyway, banks are lending at little more than RPI which means that it's effectively free to borrow the money anyway.
Not all debt is bad. As a businesswoman you know that.
Figured it wasn't worth the aggro to even apply plus she needs renovation and the holiday let application had a whole business plan and other stuff attached to it...and we all know about business plansHow long is a piece of string?
Seemed simpler to buy her and wait to save for the bulk of the renovation rather than buy part of her and commence renovation straight away. Buying having no mortgage means we can use her for what we want (within the law), renovate in our own time, do some holiday let when we are ready (as will have to set up PL insurance etc)......it's just stressy being wiped out for a while.
I am thinking to buy her in a Ltd company set up for that purpose though....so going to have to get a move on.

It's how the population keeps increasing year on year until a disease/epidemic/natural disaster takes it down in one fell swoop.
Personally I can't imagine giving birth to 10 children....my grandmother was one of 13 but only had 2 herself.Out,_Vile_Jelly wrote: »A very quick question please- how accurate is Zoopla? I'm starting to look at FTB properties and am tempted by one, however according to the Zoopla data on recently sold similar sized properties on the same road the asking price is laughably optimistic.I've never used Zoopla before- surely sellers know potential buyers will check it?!
The estimates aren't at all...they seem to work it out from some software that has a sum and calculates current 'value' from a historic sold price.
The actual LR prices are correct though...but it's easier to find them on RM by looking up the street.
What's with the bomb in Boston? Hope nothing happens Wednesday in London as it is a high profile event.0 -
