I have total sympathy with you both - have 5 kids plus one's partner (herself the youngest of 8) all but one still living at home - with all the clutter that goes with them, nowhere near enough space & no prospect of ever having enough, short of moving to the wilder/damper/colder fringes of the continent!

Some pages ago I promised to post a pic of my stair-carpet "solution" when I finally got to that stage. Not quite there yet, one coat of paint & quite a lot of sanding yet to go, but you can now see what it will look like:

Please ignore the still-somewhat-cluttered bookcase in the background... things came to a complete halt when my mother fell ill again, one of the kids had a bit of a crisis, and I had to prepare for one of my biggest events of the year, all at the same time. I'm glad to say Mum's better, the crisis is being addressed (albeit slowly) and the show went well, so I came home with only half the stock I'd gone up there with! And worked out that I don't actually need a camper van after all - I can sleep & cook in our car!

We earned £ 11 yesterday at Cash4Clothes! I'm so glad these bags are gone as DD1's boxes and bags are all over the place and will be for a couple of months. We've been cracking on with DD2's new room so hopefully will move some furniture this weekend. :)

thrifty.. your stairs are similar to mine.. the fluff gathering in the corners drives me super crazy! The crappet is a pig to vacuum too.

I thought the crisps were a ploy to train them into taking things upstairs with them. I tried but even if the whole bottom step was blocked off (and in boxes with their names written on - you just throw everything belonging elsewhere in boxes as you go across the room) they still stepped over them.

I've been recording LPs to MP3 and I've rediscovered The Flying Pickets.

I've had this album on repeat on my Walkman since last weekend.

It's just been sitting on a shelf, gathering dust for over twenty years.....
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

De-clutter total creeping up slowly again. Yesterday was mainly ten flower seed packets (mostly open) that I scattered around the backs in the bits where semi wild flowers are already established, plus a few more bits. Heat and hayfever aren't helping, I need to get myself in to some sort of routine.

I build a heap in the middle of the floor and they have a set time for it to be gone and anything left goes in the bin.

Just flinging from the kitchen today.. it is vile in there again.. How does it get so bad so quickly??

Because lots of people are messing up and you are the only one tidying.

I am feeling nostalgic for the weeks immediately post-op. My only responsibilities were feeding myself, taking pills and getting back and forth to the toilet (which fulfilled the need to hobble about once an hour). Going downstairs once a day (to heat a ready meal and bring a sandwich and snacks back) was a big adventure.

I am glad to be so much improved (being able to get in and out of the bath is wonderful) but am impatient. I can do more but still lots I can't and am in a limbo land of not knowing how far to push myself (heat and hayfever not helping). Must keep challenging myself to do things and put together some routine (need not be a permanent one, just something that works for now).Sleep pattern a mess again - I am tempted to get up in the middle of the night and do things when it's cooler. the 3- 5am blitz and then an early walk has worked before.

I gave up tidying and just starting chucking everything.. I filled a binbag from the kitchen floor it was so gross.. beds will all be clean tonight though.. just the boys beds to do over the weekend..

I'm needing to rip my house to bits anyway.. I have lost the wool for my mothers scarf, MOLS cardy and Moomins blanket.. approx. 1Kg of yarn disappeared... I have no idea how or where!!! It is absolutely infuriating!

I have a third binbag for chazzer again.. it's not much tidier despite my 3 weeks of flinging and scrubbing!!
