Moved 3 boxes from the spare room and condensed them down to one. Lots in the bin, some to cs and a bag of yarn bits to go on freecycle. Sorted box of Ds's leftovers into a gift bag and a shoebox - they can go in the loft. Using up yarn to make 2 charity blankets, have doubled the yarn to make it grow faster and added it to some lilac aran leftovers. Quite a good weekend.Clearing the junk to travel light

A few small things out today. 2 handbags that hardly get used, a couple of belts that came with jeans and some scarves- all gone to the CS. I also gave a small florists basket to a lady on our local Street life for her little girls Red Riding hood outfit. Not much but a bit more gone!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I'm here making a cost-benefit analysis of the wisdom of keeping a window open (am drying 2 loads of laundry, catching up after weeks without a working washer) vs getting stoned on secondhand skunk cannabis smoke from the neighbours loitering outside their flat.
Decisions, decisions. They're talking a load of nosiy garbage, too, which is very annoying. These people will be raising an infant in 4 months' time, gawdelp the wee lambkin.
Haven't de-hoarded anything but a washing machine (one in, one out) and a big bag of carrier bags to a c.s. which is always crying out for them. On the plus side, all that came in was a bag of fruit and veg and some of that has been eaten already, and more prepped for the freezer as even I can't eat 3 kg brussel sprouts before they go off.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Ahhh, my favourite thread is back up and running. I was getting a bit worried
I have been a lurker for a good few months now but have been applying your logic to my home/life etc. I have been chucking stuff out left, right and centre. The local Hoxfam shop are my main recipient as I apparently get Nectar points on all my junk that they sell to new owners
Today, though I didn't have any more "Tag my bag" stickers so my decluttering efforts went to CRUK instead. More TMB stickers have been ordered so the decluttering can continue. Actually it already has, I cleared out a load of suits etc from my Corporate days that aren't going to be worn again anytime soon, several nice M&S ones and some Laura Ashley dresses are off out in the morning. Now my DD (aka Frog) has an empty wardrobe ready for the new love of her life - dresses. Almost 3 and has decided that she is a "Girl" and big girls wear dresses and tights etc
DS (aka Toad) has had his latest out grown stuff bundled into the loft in readiness for the next NCT sale, March I think.
Anyway, my ramblings are over, I will be back tomorrow to read your updates - love them and thanks for getting me to chuck out my crap!!!! xxWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
I think if you were to eat that many brussels GQ, it'd be you that'd "go off".
Getting my head together to go through here with a fine toothed comb. If we are to move, I'll be damned if I'm moving anything we don't really want.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Got everything crossed for you Softstuff - good luck!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Talking of moving - I cringe now when I think how I paid hard earned and hard saved money to removal men to move too much Stuff Why???? We hope to move again one day... realistically unlikely for some years but the very thought is one of many reasons to keep on with the decluttering.0

Oh dear... that didn't quite go according to plan...
Don't look in my car... hanging my head in shame!
Memo to self - if ever I want to stock up, Cornwall's a very good place to go. Unfortunately it was raining quite hard on the first day, and all the charity shops had sales on, and lots of good stuff in the sales - classic Eastex, Windsmoor, Laura Ashley for 50p or £1, pure wool blankets for £2, etc. - so we stocked up & the car was choc-full on the way home. Most of it will go straight onto my stalls tomorrow or on Friday, honest! But there are a couple of really nice pure wool jumpers that I might "retire" two from my current selection in order to keep. Though I think TDiL has her eyes on one of them...
The second day was quite a lot better; we only found one charity shop, where I found a book I'd been after for a while, which will go on to DS1 when I've read it, and we got quite a lot of very scenic walking in, from which we brought back nothing but photos & memories!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
