I have a big folder that is too big that I need to get rid of. Why is it so hard?
Whitewing, I don't post much, but I just want to say thankyou for all your contributions to this thread. I read every day, and find you very inspirational. You seem to be very good at tackling things every day, even in small ways, and that keeps me going. Sometimes, I find it 'so hard' because I do not want to waste anything. or I can't decide the'right' place/person to pass things on to (things that that I do not need but still see a value in).I seem to need to have to make the BEST use of things, when actually, making the BEST use of the thing doesn't matter- what matters is that I let the bloody thing go. I do not need to make the decision about the BEST destination for it.If someone else can use it then that is better than it sitting unused in my house/life. Then the next step is trusting that if I did happen to need that thing(or a replacement!) again in my life , I would be able to get it!. So I have been living with the mantra 'What you need will come to you'. It is almost like trusting the Universe, or Life( or God or whatever you believe in) that what ever you need in the future will appear for you....I have just read that back and it sounds awful spiritual and pompous, but I am not really a spiritual or pompous(I HOPE NOT!) person...Perhaps it is because it is early in the morning and I have been up worrying about things!!...anyway, so far, the stuff I have parted with -I have either never missed it and if I have needed something again, it has somehow appeared/ turned up or I found I had an alternative we could use. Everything from Money for car repairs, a settee from a neighbour, food, help with something etc Some things I want to hold on to are just wants...not NEEDS. And I just need to let them go. Yes it is hard. It takes energy. I suffer from depression and the letting go knackers me somedays. But sometimes , when I am in dispair, I get a surprise, something I need does 'come to me', out of the blue, without me using energy. I have to keep reminding myself, when I find it hard to let things go, that' What I NEED, will come to me.' I have just read that ^^all back and it sounds really weird and philosophical or something, sorry. Writing it down has helped me think about it all though. Today, I have a day off work and plan to do some dehoarding/decluttering. Going to keep my mantra to the forefront of my thinking... hopefully that will let the 'letting go' easier, not so hard. Little steps, wish me luck!0 -

good_advice wrote: »Gosh! I watched half a program i saw on TV last night with an open mouth ;0O.
It was about food hoarders. Stacks and shelfs. Cupboards, fridge and huge freezers full of food.
Just a quick, and very late-to-the-party delurk, but could this be your food hoarders programme?
It'll make you watch an advert first, but the whole programme seems to be there.
Re-lurks - you ain't seen me, right?0 -
You wasn't here and you didn't do it.
I can't make that play properly no matter how I try, even if I go into the site afresh from my browser. It jerks along, stuttering and hanging. Frustrating as it looks interesting. Anybody got any tips on getting it to play smoothly?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

ETA; Whoo, was that a sobering documentary. Shot across the bows. I think I need to reduce my inventory of some foods (which are all in date) by not shopping for certain things for Some Considerable Time.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well OH sorted out his hoardrobes this weekend... And through sorting paperwork found he's got another credit card he's still paying by DD that he'd not realized *head-wall*
He chucked about seven bin bags of carp though which is amazing for him. He's let me go through all the clothing, still a good three loads to wash (drying is slow as it's so humid right now) but all the LO's 'too small' stuff is drying ready to be forwarded to smaller LOs elsewhere etc.
He's also put some old furniture on ebay which will be good if it goes for a decent price.Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]
