Surely there only needs to be a maximum of 3x5 = 15 shirts? (most of which are non iron - and look like dishrags by the end of the day irrespective of how crispy they looked at 8am)
3 Blazers/coats
2x3 = 6 jumpers (do not iron)
1 pair of shorts and a top for PE each = 6 items, 3 of which could be ironed but they're going to be stuffed in a PE bag all week. Shorts don't need to be ironed.
3 pairs of trousers/skirt/pinafore each = 9 items. Don't need ironing if they get hung up.
3 ties.
So no more than 18 items that would potentially benefit from ironing.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
This was only skirts/pinafores/trousers and blouses and cardis.
I'm well aware I have FAR, FAR too much but when its there and in use its hard to find a reason to 'chuck'
I didn't buy too many items this year for beginning of term but I know I could probably have gotten away with buying nothing. I doesn't help tht I inevitably end up with a pile of stuff that granny buys them, but the minute I'd expect or need it she wouldn't come up with the goods, lol!
I did also buy them the odd pair of 'emergency' cheap school shoes (god knows why there would ever be such an emergency but when the SM is selling school shoes for £5 and less its hard to resist) granny seemed to have the same idea and we must have had 10 x new pairs of shoes in 3 diff sizes but I've not had a problem getting rid of those, I have given them away and learnt my lesson on that front, I mean, is it going to be such a tragedy if one of them had to end up wearing converse to school for a week or so?No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Bag up all but 5 day's worth for each child. Pass on, sell on, donate to skint friends or the school supplies.
You don't need to be falling over the rest. And only blouses need ironing. If they're primary girls, you could probably do fine with just 2 summer dresses and 2 jumper/cardigans each throughout the summer, just changing/washing it when it gets mullered. Again, they don't need ironing. Plus one winter uniform for school photos.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Those words actually instilled a panic within me as I read them. I DO give extras to others and the school when I have them and when things no longer fit but I honestly CANNOT bring myself to get rid of stuff 'in use'. Clothes are like a safety net kind of thing for me. I have a MAJOR problem with them (ok I have a major problem with toiletries and with food also) I do revisit items constantly and chuck as I canNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. GRR! OH has just come downstairs after tucking younger 2 girls into bed and said when HE has a day off WE will sort the upstairs as it looks like a bomb has gone off!!!
Hmmm think he's conveniently forgetting we are coming to the end of 4 days off together!!!
And forgetting that unless I'm ready to tackle things and give him SPECIFIC instructions the nothing happens!!!No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
It's not 'in use' if it's in a heap on the floordrobe, or you spend more time moving it around or actively ignoring it than wearing it.
At some point I have seemed to have got rid of my floordrobe. I never even noticed it leave, yet I've had it nearly 4 decades:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. This is what I NEED to happen I can see it happening, albeit not very quickly!
I will make much more of a concerted effort to check and cull items instead of leaving some hanging in wardrobe forevermore and only putting on the kids what's I KNOW is going to fit them!
I wish I'd counted all the items of clothes in the house when I started this, although that in itself would be some HUGE task!
I still have way, way too many things but I now don't have so many that I need to chuck it into black bags and hide it in a cupboard when I know someone is coming round!!! :rotfl:No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -

Were we separated at birth?
Half of my problem is the perfectionist tendencies rearing their ugly heads. I want this house to be perfect for us and the dog, I want to be able to put bog rolls away close to where they are needed, I don't want cleaning stuff on view in the bathrooms. I also don't want to be carrying cleaning stuff from one bathroom to the next, spreading germs everywhere. Control freak, moi?
Saying that, the dog is far happier here than the old house:rotfl:
I know I still have far too many clothes, but I went through everything before we moved, and got rid of seven bin bags of carp that I wouldn't wear again. I need to sort into winter/summer stuff, and when the weather warms up, put away the winter stuff. That's if the weather ever warms up.
Did I mention the fact that I've also dehoarded two stone in weight? I wouldn't recommend the diet though...Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
I have NEVER met a perfectionist dog, although I am chuckling at the thought. What a caring person you are. I have perfectionist tendencies in some areas of my life and it is CRIPPLING.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Would love to meet a perfectionist dog :rotfl:
WW I am the same - although I am getting better - I spend/spent so long thinking about how I'm going to do something, the perfect way of doing it and then I create problems that mean I can't do it. For example I have stuff that needs to be taken down the dump but I don't want to get the interior of my car dirty, if I had to clean it, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I did clean it out afterwards (and it could probably do with a clean) I also work myself up into a tizz about parking at the dump. You have to reverse park there (parking is not my forte) if it's busy then there won't be 2 spaces free next to each other which means a wasted journey as I'll end up just driving out again
.
There is 2 bags of rubbish in the sun room and various carp in the garden that needs to be taken down there - it taunts me. The energy I waste on these 2 bags of rubbish and carp is not worth it.
I need to get on and do, not think.
