Come on, you've got a special day ahead, the weather is going to be perfect for whatever you want to wear. What do you wear that makes you feel fabulous?
Keep that.
And what would make you feel 'hmmmm'? or a bit awkward, give you blisters, feels a bit too baggy or tight or a bit dull, a bit 'meh', a bit 'I've worn this so many times, I can't wear it again', that kind of thing?
Get rid of those.
I might love you. Would you marry me?
I have so much 'meh' and 'hmmm' going on in my wardrobe which has spent the last 4 years full of maternity stuff.. I finally squeeze into a size 14 and out come the maternity clothes again.. I think Mr A Piggers might have some objections, and it would be quite a long distance relationship
Other than that, it's the best offer I've had for a while :rotfl:
Why not hoard grandchildren from now onwards? Hoarding by proxy sounds far less taxing on the waistline. And other parts
By the way, we've got all the other nicknames, does this one have one yet?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Just done something stupid.
Told someone - sort of - how much I liked him. Almost.
I don't think he quite realised. I'm not going to spell it out to him because I don't think I could handle the rejection. Or he did and is politely remaining oblivious.
Argh.Oh Jojo, I'm really impressed with you. It's a lovely sunny morning, and romance is in the air!oh sweetie.. he is a man, if you don't spell it out in cold hard terms he hasn't the vaguest idea.. just tell him! You are not 12 you are a big strong hardcore battleaxe female meant to dominate the world!
Go Jo Jo! :j
Sorry couldn't resist it. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

You can also read big chunks of it on amazon
Hmm, so a place for everything and everything in its place?
I agree in principle but at the moment I have either not enough place or too much everything!
Storing things near to where you use them is also very logical. Someone on MSE has a signature "don't put it down, put it away" which of course is easier if you have one specific place for that item. Again too much stuff messes up that system.
Sigh, so no easy fix, de cluttering it is then.
On a fantasticaly positive note, hubby did get fed up of bumping into the boxes of books in the hall and they are now in the boot of his car. Just hope the charity shop will take them, I hate throwing books away.
I spent the whole day yesterday "tooth brushing" (see book above) my bedroom. Things I rarely use have been moved to the more awkward shelves. And there is no point saying I will take our dirty laundry upstairs to the laundry basket only to bring it down again to wash it, when in reality it lives in a pile on the floor. So a new mini laundry bin has been created. Also I was using some of my bedroom shelves for storage of things that should never be in the bedroom, ie spare radio, DIY stuff, so now there is more space for clothes that previously lived on the floordrobe.
I also had an in-tray with 4 shelves, To Do Now, To Do Soon, To Do a Bit Later and Will Do One Day. Three of those shelves are not needed. Either it needs doing or it doesn't! I already have a filing cabinet with a very efficient filing system in place, so most of the stuff has been moved there.
I think if I can maintain my bedroom like this for 30 days I will have formed good habits and keeping my room this way will become second nature. So 1 day down 29 to go!0 -

He won't mind.. we're not married
Long distance is ok.. we won't pee each other off.
Grandchildren are far more expensive than your own.

I hoard children too! Maybe there is something in the correlation between lots of children and hoarders?
We are having a good Easter- I cooked for friends yesterday they have a 7 year old (my #3's best friend) and a 10day old baby!!! It was really nice, food & wine & cheesecake and an avoidance of family on both sides! DHs parents live 79 paces away and he is only child and my lot as you know have upset/ annoyed me lately so i made plans with friends and refused to feel guilty and I didn't
However we are off out for a meal with in laws later and their friends they are staying so that can round off my 4 days of FILTHY eating (curry, burger, chocolate, more processed carbs than you could imagine!)
Back to the gym this week. I have 27 days til my birthday when I am wearing a somewhat revealing 70s disco outfit!!Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Hello again, everyone, I'm now back online properly after the house move, so I hope you'll have me back...
This is probably going to turn into a long and whinging post, sorry
Moving has proved to me just how much carp I have, and despite the gains made before the move, I still have so much stuff to get rid of. I love the idea of a place for everything, and everything in its place, but I'm really struggling to find places for things at the moment. There are still boxes of stuff in the lounge, and I'm worried that if they stay there much longer, I'll stop seeing them. I'm trying to find a home for one thing a day, it's all I can cope with at the moment.
The new house has very little storage, which is a big shock after the last house, at the moment, for example, we don't have bathroom cabinets so everything is everywhere, and it takes so long to find what I'm looking for, which eats into the time I should spend looking online for bathroom cabinets.
I'm also fed up of buying things - I'd trained myself not to buy things in the old house, so that there wouldn't be so much to throw out when the move came. I'm struggling to keep up with the small amount of day to day things as well at the moment, both of us are exhausted, but we just have to keep going if there's ever going to be an end to this. The garage is full, and there are two storage units that need to be cleared. Please be gentle with me, I'm feeling overwhelmed by it all at the momentGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

Welcome back.
OK, first thoughts. How much of the bathroom stuff do you actually need?
You need:
One Toothbrush/head per person.
One tube of toothpaste.
Dental floss/interdental brushes.
Possibly one bottle of mouthwash if the dentist advised it.
Two flannels/sponges per person (one each end).
A hairbrush/comb.
A mirror.
Nail brush.
Hand soap.
Shaving gear for all hairies - razor/shaver.
Shampoo.
Conditioner if someone has long hair
Shower gel.
Possibly a body lotion. But not hundreds of them.
Some towels. Not hundreds, just enough for the number of baths/showers taken in one day.
A bog brush/means of scrubbing the loo.
A small bin for tampax wrappers, etc.
Anything else is getting in your way - half dead plants, pictures, trinkets, baskets, pots, vases, half empty and gone off cosmetics, lotions, potions and creams, damp bath salts, etc.
Makeup/perfume is being treated by me as dressing table matters - even so, they could also be culled quite easily.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
As always., great post Jojo.
This is a lovely, supportive thread for toiletries and cosmetic control, MrsAtobe.
I don't have a wall -mounted bathroom cabinet - but I do have a small wooden storage cabinet and a two tier chrome storage unit.
I also have easy-clean plastic bathroom baskets for DS's stuff that previously lived everywhere in the bathroom.
Next to the loo is a plastic lidded storage box that keeps items I don't want on view hidden and doubles as a foot soak bath. Smaller private kipple lives in the wooden cabinet drawer.
There is still too much, but a lot less than there was, and I love pampering myself to use up the nice stuff I have.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
