I've just found a gold necklace that has never left the box it came in that my ex gave me the very last christmas before we divorced. That may come in handy!

And another load of stuff to sell - these are all going on ebay today, if they don't sell I'm taking them to the CS. It's worth a shot as it's free listing. Going to make severe inroads to the overfilled, cluttered un-usable back bedroom - I've seen pictures of a friend's spare room [spacious, calming and restful] and I want one just like it!

My wish-list is getting longerer and longerer (again, not words but some times real words just don't work :p )

Grr! I feel like I'm getting ill again despite being almost fully recovered this week!

Nothing done in the house today kids had an Easter egg hunt (fight) this morning (despite it being made in a way that there was one thing for each at each clue) then have been out for the day to the borders but it really is still too cold to be outdoors for very long so we eventually ended up at shops (although really only had a nosey in next and popped to Asda for some bread and juice)

Tomorrow I will try and restore some order to the place!

Catriona, do they actually look or do you just feel that they would? I am only thinking that hoarding disorders are often associated with higher anxiety levels.

You've got a point there. Paranoia feeds on paranoia etc, we hoard stuff because of some emotional need we have, it's sometimes/often very difficult to even decide to tackle "that box" etc and very easy [for me] to think that people are talking about you and judging you for something unspecified you've done or not done. I know I can so easily fall back into "what can I do to put this right" mode when it's just the other person is having a bad day/got the grumps etc and they just need space and time. People generally aren't talking about you, they've their own problems to worry about.

I am one of life's "what have I done wrong now?" people. Yet I can identify it in other people too, and have said to them not to put themselves down as once you do that, people will agree with you!

Why do I find it so hard to tell myself that?
  • Reading back - this looks interesting. Anyone able to give an explanation so I don't have to buy the book?
That sounds cheeky but you'd understand if you saw my real and virtual book piles!

Try this link. It's explained about half way down.

Got a few questions re decluttering.

My wardrobe is right now stuffed full of clothes both summer and winter. I have some winter coats and jumpers in those vacuum packed bags.

OH has an almost full double wardrobe. I don't really want to declutter it. He has various jumpers his mum bought and he dislikes them but I think he will EBay soon a few are new with tags.

My bugbear is dresses and tops. I have a few. To be honest I do wear a few of the dresses in summer and tops. Some evening tops I get bored of though.

I also go through phases I used to like Whistles double layer tops bought a few then tired of them!

Whenever I ask SIL or friends what to get rid of they say the dresses are pretty so keep them which does not help!

I need to be more ruthless but how?!

What are you happiest wearing? What do you look at and think 'eww, not that one (again)'?

Come on, you've got a special day ahead, the weather is going to be perfect for whatever you want to wear. What do you wear that makes you feel fabulous?

    Keep that.

And what would make you feel 'hmmmm'? or a bit awkward, give you blisters, feels a bit too baggy or tight or a bit dull, a bit 'meh', a bit 'I've worn this so many times, I can't wear it again', that kind of thing?

    Get rid of those.

I had this conversation with my DD this afternoon. She was helping me de-clutter (so much easier with 2 pairs of hands and a calm attitude - her's, not mine LOL) she asked why I have 6 pairs of evening sandals when all I wear on holiday is sparkly flip flops. Then said "you have all these shoes IN BOXES UNWORN but you wear trainers or 1 pair of boots, get rid of the rest. Same as your clothes, you buy these dresses, tops, skirts but you wear joggers at home and shorts or a sundress on holiday... make room by getting rid of what you don't wear!"

Brutal, she is. But it needed saying. :o

And she's right. I have shopped for the fantasy me too often. I need to establish what I do wear and keep that!

There's a second hand clothes shop in town I noticed the other day - not a CS - they sell on your clothes and take a commission from the sale. I think I will make enquiries there as a lot of my wardrobe is filled with BNWT clothes in [all the colours and all the sizes - I will be a size 10/12 again so I've got that size as well as my current size] :shhh:

    Hmmmm.

Perhaps you could think about that a little longer?

Don't understand what you mean Jojo - I meant fantasy self as wearing floaty feminine dresses, lady who lunches etc style whereas the clothing I wear is more practical.

And when I've bought those clothes [that I haven't worn] - I'm always saying I need to lose weight, I've bought one in my current size and one in the size I feel I should be. This is relating to clothes that I have bought over the years, not any recent purchases.

    Does that not make sense?
