I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

I do not worry about deadlines. A great way to get over stressed about the process. Not good for the mind. I like to make progress slow and steady. Some days are better than others but at least I am moving forward, no days where I go backwards but a lot when not much happens.

you say the sweetest things. :rotfl:

    I'm now thanking you:)

The filing cabinet is now my bedside cabinet and there are much fewer paper piles - nearly there with the paperwork!

hope you are OK WW, I hate anxiety - it's so crippling.

I find those programmes really uncomfortable, and anyone who goes on them is very brave.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
  • Morning all

Didn't realise that programme was on last night. Must watch out for it next week. Not sure how I feel about watching it though.

Good news and a bit of progress
cleared lots of cardboard boxes out ...5 now to be recycled.
6 bags of clothing etc for charity...hubby has them all carried to the front door so I can pop them in if I get a chance today.

Feel as if I am getting somewhere.

How did this place get like this. A few weeks of not keeping on top of things and shoving items into drawers cupboards etc really throws the cat among the pigeons.

My new motto when I get cleared is ..
    LESS IS MORE :)

Having the chimney cleaned this morning and need to parcel an ebay sale.
    Take care all.
  • 2 bags of clothes out for charity collection this morning! Woop! :j

Is anybody planning on doing the 40 bags in 40 days challenge this year? I did it last year and it was fantastic for a decluttering challenge. :) The idea is that you start at the beginning of Lent (March 5th this year) and focus on filling and removing 40 bags (of whatever size you choose filled with whatever you like) from your home. Beats the usual giving up chocolate or alcohol for Lent anyway! :)

I try not to watch programmes on hoarding, I find them really sad and depressing. :(

I find the programmes fascinating, especially because the hoarders themselves are such likeable people, and well-loved, and intelligent and articulate usually.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

That sounds like a brilliant idea. When does Lent start? I think it would be a good idea for me to give up alcohol as well though!

I must admit I like the programmes, although they get a bit 'samey' after a while.

I don't remember appearing on one of those programmes. :rotfl:

Been sorting out clothes today. Got a trouser pocket in Mr F's jeans to repair and some socks to darn. Mr F has a cotton blend type of sock with non elastic tops - not the cheapest so they are darned to get more life out of them. :money:
Mr F has gone out with the dog to the charity shop - taking the two bags of stuff that I sorted yesterday. :j
I have another bag started for the charity shop. :)

Very little energy today but did manage to get a few little things done. I've got books in the car for the charity shop or recycling bank, whichever I get to first. They were in a flimsy carrier bag and kept falling out. I found a 'bag for life' in my bedroom. It had obviously spent most of its life empty, neglected and lonely in my bedroom. It is now the proud container of said books in the car boot.

I put the petrol can and tyre pump back in the boot. They've been in the house since DS borrowed the car to move house - in December. I reckoned the chances of me needing to use either in the house were slim so now they're keeping the bags company in the car boot.

I seem to be accumulating quite a lot of empty boxes. The cardboard ones will end up binned or sent to the charity shop with donated items. The 'good' plastic ones with lids will be kept for now but I am resisting the impulse to 'tidy up' by putting all my possessions in said boxes. I don't think I'll need to buy any more though. I also seem to have boxes without lids and lids without boxes. Usually a problem with tupperware type containers, but not these type of boxes. I suspect I will be able to marry them up at some point.

I've vacuumed some of the stairs. My Vax cylinder cleaner has great suction until you put the attachments on for some reason. With just the hose on it's great, but can't see me cleaning all my carpets with it. There was a box on the stairs which has gone up in the spare room and I have vacuumed the bottom few stairs - like I said, no energy today and it is hard work with just the hose. I may live dangerously and sort the rest of the stairs tomorrow.

Not much progress today, though did have a lot to cleaning to do. Cleaning all the bits from yesterdays cooking binge. At least all done now so will start tomorrow with a clean kitchen.
