Currently working our way through the freezer to empty it out defrost and restock.
Tonight the UFO (unidentified frozen object ) looked like a pot of home made soup..sadly on defrosting it was rhubarb..:(
:p I've done that, in variations. Very disconcerting when you've readied yourself for a savoury product and get fruit. Could you rustle it up into a crumble?

See.. aluminium/chicken trays do not appeal to me.. nor do 'reusable' jars.. but you marinate stuff or crush biscuits in a Ziplock bag I'll wash it out for reuse!!! I need a slap!

I have mountains of 'I'll ebay that later' items.. though I am desperately trying to offload stuff on to anyone who will stand still long enough to let me.. needles to say the steamer, sewing machine, rocking horse, rabbit and cabinet are all STILL here.

Today I allowed a booster seat for a dining chair to go to DD1's.. it might not be much but it went out!

I sat down this evening and have gone through one of my boxes of DS' childhood stuff. I reduced its contents by over half. It included a T shirt that DS and DH made at school on one of their child-parent occasions. It has never been worn as any physical item that came in the house with DS seems to have been deemed too 'precious' to allow him to actually have, but not so important that he could actually look at it! So I showed him and we have given it to DD, and we'll let her use it. She is very excited and I actually don't mind if it eventually gets worn out as I can appreciate her joy in having it. And I could hardly scrapbook the damn thing, really.

So I am pleased to be tackling the 'hard stuff'. It has taken a long time to get to this point and there's still more to face but it is fine.

What a touching, enabling post, a lovely story . Thank you. When I was younger I hero-worshipped my big brother, I think I would have been thrilled to have worn a T-shirt he had made.

(Tray is washed and back on draining board... Unfortunately I remembered that DS broke my small but not smallest glass roasting dish just before Christmas, which has made parting with it a bit harder. )

Whitewing why not take a photo of your DD wearing the t-shirt and then put that in a scrapbook/album?

I thought the bins weren't being collected until next week but it turns out it was today. Luckily I put mine out when I saw the neighbours had. It was nearly full. There was the usual day to day rubbish but also some random bits and pieces that I had decided to get rid enough but weren't good enough to send to a charity shop - and if they're not good enough to send to a charity shop then they're not good enough for me!

This is so good Noelphobic - I got rid of a bin yesterday. It was a nice plastic clear/blue bin, but it had a crack in the bottom and patches of gaffa tape remains. I could have used it as a flowerpot but it wouldn't have looked very nice in my garden. I could have used it to keep garden tools in but I already have a lovely trug. We have replaced it with a lovely wicker bin so I have chucked the old blue bin in the wheelie bin!

This was a weird thing for me, normally it would have hung around gathering dust for ages or gone in the shed for ever, doing nothing, taking up space. I am pleased :) I am free!

Ooh, on another note, I've been reading everyday and keep meaning to post about the laundry bags. I've started keeping bedding sets together like this, but instead of making a special laundry bag (although they do sound lovely), I've just popped the bedding in one of the matching pillow cases. That way, I can see what pattern it is from the case it's in. I got the idea from http://www.glamumous.co.uk/2013/03/101-household-tips-for-every-room-in.html which someone else posted a little while ago.

I just heard the fizzing and popping of a lightbulb moment here.

When I started dehoarding, DH used to be horrified at what I thought was good enough for a charity shop, and if he didn't think it was good enough then I would still want to keep it ourselves rather than bin it. It really helps that there are more recycling facilities nowadays.

Just bought a Wowcher deal for a boiler service. My boiler has never been serviced and I reckon it could be 12 years old or more. Hopefully a double benefit to this, as if I arrange for someone to come and do it then it's an extra incentive to tidy up/declutter. The boiler is in the spare room which is relatively tidy and will have further work done on it by the time I arrange an appointment. The engineer will need to go through the living and dining rooms to get to the spare room, plus through the kitchen and into the bathroom if he wants to use the loo.

The only room he definitely won't need to go in is my bedroom -although, if he's fit, well, you never know :rotfl:Best tidy it up just in case! :D

  • I've recently found out that our local homelessness shelter can take kitchen stuff to help people being resettled into new homes. Yay! That's me happy because I have loads of glassware, plates and sundry kitchen bits that can be run through the dishwasher and then off for donation.

I have a small moral dilemma about a saucepan set. My stepdad bought it for my mum, and I'd love to use it but it's cast iron and way too heavy for me to lift anything other than the baba pan once filled with anything. I am wondering whether I should try to eB*y it first, as it's Le Creus*t, and wildly expensive when new. It's not in its first flush of youth, but is still perfectly serviceable. It'd have to be collection though, as I can't imagine how difficult it would be to find something strong enough to pack it in for any kind of courier service.
