that I didn't discover until in work - curse these dark mornings.
I discovered ten minutes ago that I have been wearing my socks inside out all day. They have small diamonds on the sole, except being inside out the small diamonds are bigger tufts, and they've swivelled round to be on the top of my feet.
I did a couple of 30 minute washes today. Just need to hang up the second one.
Also put lettering on my free birthday card (such a joy to go to the craft cupboard and find what I need).
Tomorrow I have two jobs that have been hanging around for 3 weeks. I will be so glad when they're done so I shall force myself. Bit of a shame I have to be out first thing as that will be a mad scramble.
1 picture is on the side ready for DS to take to the charity shop tomorrow on his way in.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
DS doesn't like eating too many carbohydrates so a bag of still decent spuds from before Christmas was decluttered into a large pan of mustard mash, half for today and half-frozen for another day. I fell asleep for most of the evening
(carbs in my tummy make me sleepy). So I'm wide awake now.
Trays. Hm. Yes. On the weekend we had a gammon joint that came with a tray, I washed it for recycling, left it on the drainer and then decided to re-use it for a liver and bacon casserole (earlier to go with the mash) as it was so sturdy.
I'll wash it again for the recycling I guess. (I will not keep it, I will not keep it... but it did cook the casserole really well.)
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I got a phone call at 8.15 this morning from a joiner who has done some work for me in the past and I am arranging to do a few other jobs with. He said he thought he'd catch me 'before I went to work'. About 7 months too late really, seeing as I haven't worked (apart from my voluntary work) since the end of June! However, killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Got me out of bed earlier than I would otherwise have done and he's arranged to come on Saturday so yet another incentive to do some more decluttering/tidying. He's been here before so I'm not as worried as I would be if someone new was coming, but I want to do what I can anyway.
I'm out this afternoon and my son is coming tonight so hoping to get a few little jobs done this morning and then as much as possible tomorrow, as I'm free all day, and then on Saturday morning before he comes.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
I didn't intend to do this, but while searching for something else I came across some business paperwork from last year when I was setting up a project. All very important stuff - last year. The project has been implemented now so I don't need it. All has been shredded. Normally I would hold on to it 'just in case'. Which I think is just in case I need to prove to anyone that I am capable of doing such a project. When it's only me that doubts I am anyway.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I sorted out some clothes drawers yesterday and was struggling to get rid of a couple of things I don't wear cos, well, I'd bought them hadn't I?
I was eventually able to take a deep breath and say "I made a mistake" it's a really hard thing for me to say.
They are in the charity bag :T
Now I've got to work on the cardi I knitted and then promptly shrunk in the wash.
Piglet, you can throw the toysI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

The 0xfam mountain has gone and I can see the hall!
Started eating the Christmas cake I made two years ago. Why did I make another?
Decluttered some mince pies in the direction of OH's work.
Found some plates in the cupboard that I had forgotten about. That presents a quandary - I obviously don't use them but they go with the set. Hmm.0 -

Just put several items in the bin; a cache of alu foil tins which had formerly held quiche and were now under the oven in the pan box and a drum-like cardboard cylinder with a plastic lid which I fetched from Mum's at Xmas because she was about to bin it (these hold coffee originally) and I thought I could find a use for it.On reflection, I can't use it and it's taking up valuable cupboard space so off it goes. And I will get the kitchen straightened up before bedtime so I don't have a repeat of the mad rush I had this morning, caused by sleeping in. Fortunately was on a late anyway but still don't like to hurtle around quite that quickly in the morning.
I'm itching to get on with bagging up some of my linen cupboard but that'll have to wait for the weekend as am too whacked out now to start anything.
Re the plates belonging to a set, are the rest of the set things you use, or do you have several tiers of crockery in the cupboards, which seems to be the norm in households I grew up in.
Eg, the everyday motley stuff, the slightly better stuff, the company special stuff, the wedding china, the wife's mother's wedding china, the husband's mother's wedding china, the stuff brought back from Forn Parts and the glasses from Esso (or wherever it was, back in the day).
Keep on keeping on, lovely peeps, we're pecking away at it slowly, aren't we? GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
