It's blowy and raining here but the Christmas lights are cheering the place up.

7 envelopes gone in the post. 1 parcel and card being delivered by DH.

I am pleased that our kitchen cupboards are being kept clear. I wanted something to put yesterday's baking in, was looking for something else and found a perfect Christmassy set of trays. So it all looks very festive and we will be able to have them back when they're finished with. It is so lovely to be able to see what you have.

I got DS to do a quick run round with the vacuum before he left the house. Just the bits you can see (he is a teenager). It is surprising how much difference that job, done improperly, still makes. I feel there is 'hope' for today. Before that, it was a mad panic of trying to get everything ready before they all went out and feeling a touch grumpy at the thought of being left in chaos.

Well, I think I'm ready! :D Need to hoover tomorrow, hose is still drying off where I had to flush it through with water to get rid of a blockage, but DD's pressies wrapped, it's her birthday tomorrow, so always a bit frantic, but not as frantic as when she was young.

Weather is awful, I have to go out in it as I'm pet sitting bunnies, got them a Xmas treat of herby hay.

So, no thoughts of decluttering for a couple of day, just keeping on top of things instead. Clearing as I go along. It really helps to have a place for each thing,

I feel quite tearful at the moment but I've never been good on grey days.

Have a couple of work jobs to do but finding the paperwork is a bit of a pain. I am also still in my pj's (not a good sign) so perhaps I will have a shower first and that may get me going.

I don't want to go out tonight to see extended family but I always feel like that so I am going to keep a lid on it - it's not fair to make DH feel bad. He is doing some xmas shopping at the moment. He does like to leave it until the last minute, but it will probably save us money as it's so grim he wont want to hang around dribbling money away. Fire engines and ambulances are haring past regularly so I've told him to be careful and take his time.

He will be able to unpack into free space so that is great. It still surprises me to go into a clean and tidy kitchen.

    Merry Christmas to you all!

Well had a couple of calls from friend then it stopped, I have heard nothing today as assume she is ok...don't want to pester. She would have called if needed anything.

I'm a massive fairylights fan, have some permanently in a couple of plants, and in conservatory...they really do cheer me up. in fact they are another bit of a hoard (ish) thing of mine too, have several sets in cupboard not in use. A set on tree, some on fire place, some in plant, and set in conservatory. I used to have them round my bed at the last place, but had to get rid of them at Asbo-cat tried to eat them.

No sorting things here today as the 'clean-police' have arrived (mum). Quite funny really as the place is spotless and she is saying she couldn't be doing with my clutter....the clutter she is talking about is the fact that I have 5 lamps in the lounge instead of 2 like her, and a few tealight holders about. .....lol. she has no idea about how some people are.....or me.

I did txt my friends daughter suggesting a bonfire and the reasons for this as she doesn't understand it. However I doubt this would have been possible as it's been raining here last night and today. I'm really did feel for her, don't think i've heard her in such a panic. Hopefully if a decent amount of space has been cleared then she will by now see some positive in it.

Good luck to those doing any sorting today.

Hope you are feeling a bit better now Whitewing.

    Merry Christmas to all too.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I'm not an especially morbid person, just had this thing sitting on my desk for weeks, waiting for me to get a roundtuit.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen our Roundtuit lately? Perhaps she'll post to say "hi".

    Hi xx :santa2:

I always struggle at this time of year - a combo of dark days and the added pressure of Christmas preparations I guess. And once again I have failed miserably to turn our house into anything resembling 'normal' for DS to return home to for the Christmas break from Uni.

    Heyho :(

Wishing you all peace and happiness this Christmas-time

:D Thanks for checking in with da gang, roundtuit, and I'm sorry that this time of year isn't a good time for you.

If it helps, think about it from the POV that the solstice is past and the days will gradually lengthening.

    :xmassign:

I'm taking a crafty project with me to the folks' this Christmas. It's something I can do whilst sitting around chatting. I figure if I don't do this project (sort of a scrap-booking type thingy) this break, I shall declutter it. Has been sitting around for 8.5 years already..........:o

One way or another, it'll be resolved by Sunday.

On a more positive note :D DS is home for the Christmas break; we have food - lots; a roof over our head where we are safe and dry - my heart goes out to those poor people who are flooded; all the presents are wrapped and I will be spending Christmas Eve with friends, and Christmas Day with family. No-one gets invited back so it doesn't matter that the tree is naked and the place is a tip.......well actually that's not true, it does matter but it's not going to spoil the festive fun, as long as DS is fed and watered he's happy, bless 'im.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

And we'll have another bash at eating the elephant another day :D

DD has been spoilt rotten by grandparents yesterday. The big Christmassy bag got soggy in the horrible weather last night so I have sellotaped it back together and it will be used again.

Other unwrapped presents have been put away. The gift boxes and bags are ready to be passed on to people who want to use them tomorrow.

1 book that I finished reading has been passed to my brother.

The latest Christmas card arrivals are up on the wall.

DH got some new pjs so the old ones are being washed and will go. He looks good in the new ones - it didn't take long to get them off again, lol.

We have had a tiny buffet for lunch. Last year we bought loads of food. This year we decided to go more frequently and buy much less. It's working as a strategy this year, and we are enjoying it far more.
