But we have gone one better today. Yup, I found an opened 5-pack of K*t-K*ts with one of them still inside the packet. They have been underground for over 5 years since they predate my incumbency and anyway, I've never been known to allow a chocolate-covered biscuit to escape............:rotfl:

    Oh my goodness :rotfl:

So, what did you do with them?

Didn't use them as exotic, well aged, marinaded slug bait? ;)

:) I was tempted to unwrap them, just to see how well they'd survived several years of total inhumation, but managed to resist.

Read once about excavations of the infamous Fresh Kills landfill site which took decades of NYC's trash. They've found burgers buried in datable strata (newspapers) which prove that some alleged foodstuffs don't decay for decades..............:rotfl:

I just went through my purse. I had a whole load of out of date coupons. (It's good they weren't used; it meant that I am thinking about whether we need something).

Trying to reign in the spending now nearly all of xmas is sorted. Keep wanting to buy xmas socks and jumpers and things.

:D Feeling good today; I have tackled the Mending Pile. This was conspiciously in the living room to prompt me to deal with it (only took about 2 months' worth of niggling mind you).

One pair of trousers cannibalised to mend two other garments, one of which will need some more hand sewing when I'm next minded and the light is good. Two other things mended and something I'd bought on 9th Sept found under the pile..........was wondering where that had got to.

Simple things but pleasing. Plus I had to excavate the table again to get the sewing machine onto it, and it wasn't nearly as horrendous as I thought it would be.

Rainy days off when you're not feeling too good can still be good for something, you see. Keep on pecking away at it, folks.

I was thinking I'd done b+gger all this week, but I did go to the recycling centre yesterday (got there 2 mins before closing :)) and got rid of 1 large cardboard box filled with cardboard boxes :o, a snooker cue, a broken bow and arrow, a very broken ladybird wheelybug thing that the kids only use to have accidents from on top of, but when they see it they won't let it go....

also I've washed and hemmed some curtains which were in a really cold corner which were getting mildewy and made/put up some undercurtains which has got rid of some material purchased for the purpose very many moons ago.

and I've finished an xmas knitting project, so some progress is being made with the fixing/using/throwing stuff.

broken an airer that I never use (not on purpose!) so that can go out too. Also thrown 2 bras that I tried to fix the underwiring on but the sewing didn't hold.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
  • I am heading to mum's tomorrow for the final round of throwing/tipping/charity shopping.

She moves on Monday! Wish me luck!

28 years ago my parents moved into a large 3 bedroomed semi from a 5 bedroomed detached house.

They thought they had got rid of enough stuff.

    They hadn't!

Mum is moving to a 2 bedroomed flat. This time we may well have cracked it!

:T Good luck, cyclingyorkie (and her Mum).

Going to w*rk today (bah!) so not a lot of decluttering will be happening here at the homestead although I am slinging the rubbish into the communal bin on my way out of the block.

Plus there is a little less in the bathroom as I finished up a 1 litre bottle of shampoo yesterday, into the recycling with that. I shall now move onto the other part-used bottle and get that sorted before I get into the other bottle which was a gift.

    I-will-not-buy-any-more-toiletries-until-I-have-used-some-up.

:o Quite excited about seeing the tabletop again. Would be good if I could see the sofa at the same time, but hey-ho, let's not be a perfectionist, hmm?:rotfl:

I have also hauled 3 books off the bookshelf for my close scrutiny to see if they're keepers or not. I have very little space, although I am a voracious reader, and most of "my" books live at the central library.

Well, I pay enough council tax, I figure keeping "my" books shelved and dust-free is the least They can do.

ETA; a quick check online reveals that the asking price for one of my books is about £13 so will pass that to the online bookseller in the family if I decide I don't want it. Cash is so very compact, don't you find?

As my cash stash is at zero thanks to DS' dad stopping his payments unexpectedly, I can agree with you Grey Queen.
