I managed to get one of the Morrison's £9 bottles of baileys. That is now wrapped up so I don't drink it before Xmas! Very pleased with that.
Also, getting one of the Tesco vouchers, I have to spend £40 online twice to get £20 off a third £40 spend. Am stocking up on some things like washing powder - stuff that we don't use more us simply because we have got loads in. Some good deals there on our normal brands. I am pleased we have the space to be able to do this, thanks to our dehoarding and this thread for keeping the time between noticing something is no longer needed and actually getting rid of it to a minimum.
There is less stuff in the house, and that makes knowing what we need to get a lot, lot easier. Saves so much time and money.(But I don't beat myself up for how I used to be, I know there were good reasons why I was like I was).
Have wrapped up DD's Xmas presents. Again some good deals in the toy sales.
Now, I am very organised for certain things, but have a real temptation to go mad for shopping.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I am going tomorrow before work to see if they have any £9 bottles left!

Hey, we're back!
I've been back at work this week and not a lot of de-cluttering has been happening. I did round up the UHT milk cartons I was keeping to use for candles if I ran out of Pr*ngle tubes and have flattened them ready for the special occasional trip to the one place which recycles them.
I also had a brainwave and put some cuphooks under a wall-cupboard and got some of the mugs out of the very small space. Otherwise, it's just finishing up a couple of bottles of cleaning materials and recycling them, all rinsed and drained.
I also kept seeing the jar of after sun balm I bought on my holibobs when I stooopidly caught the sun. Not something I normally use (I'd forgotten the sunblock, hence the need for the balm).
Here's was would have happened; said plastic jar would have floated around the bathroom gathering dust between occasional swipes with a damp cloth to get the fluff off. For years. Until it went rancid and was thrown away. Whereupon there would have been guilt at the waste and annoyance at myself.
So, decided that it's not too different to handcream and am using it for that. Nothing radical has happened to my skin in the week I've been doing this so I will carry on until it's all used up - when it's gone, it's gone.
I've also developed the strange habit of discreetly writing the start date on a product, which enabled me to see how long it takes to use up, which should help me plan my shopping better.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

yes i've been skiving a bit! but picked up new parts for the dyson today from post office and replaced those bits (including a filter I didn't know existed!). Old filters are binned, and I've done some hoovering, and boxes for the new bits are recycled.:AA/give up smoking (done)0

Kitchen surfaces gutted... 3 binbags of rubbish and a box for chazzer later I emerge kind of victorious... maybe make a start on cupboards next... fling fling flingety fling! Washing caught up on so it looks MUCH nicer in there.. I mightv even be tempted to whizz out the sewing machine and throw my winter fleece curtains together!
Back room is minus 2 binbags of stuff to chazzer and a basket of toys gathered to go upstairs.
Middle room acquired a bigger bookcase which cannot stay where it is but I will find a space for it.. I am looking at a room shuffle tbh.
My sister is coming on Tuesday to take some fabric home and help me sort out the toy boxes in the front room in preparation for the fat guy in red visiting.
ooh I threw out a broken toy tub which has ben in my hallway for about 6 months!
Today I filled a wheelie bin!!!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
OK done a bit more: spurred on by here and the winter prep thread I checked the weather forecast alerts for heavy rain here tomorrow morning and gales Sunday, with all the stuff from the loft that needs tipping in the front garden like missiles in waiting. So as it is currently dryish the smaller bits are in the car now and the door is secured so it can't act like a sail and smash into someone's windows. I probably can't get to the tip tomorrow but at least it is secure and dry in the car ready for a trip at the weekend rather than wet and potentially hazardous in gales.
plus I know where the torches, candles etc are in case of a power cut from downed lines, which is a relatively new thing! go dehoarding!:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
May I join? I'm not a "proper" hoarder, as in no room is filled floor to ceiling with "stuff". However, I have a lot of "things" in and around the house and am starting to declutter the spare room.2018 totals:

We love our new joiners as much as we love our established threaders, so please do come and inspire us alex.
pigpen, I am so impressed by people who have sewing machines and can use them. Also, anyone who can diy.
I have had a tidy up as DH is at work. It does feel better now. I still feel that doing (some) housework is crucial to spurring me on with little bits of dehoarding. There are still some drawers and shelves to go through at some point. There are also a few xmas presents that need DH to print off photos for before they can be wrapped up. We are pretty organised coming up to half term. And we have only had minor colds so far so chugging along.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. .
I did 4 years of dressmaking at college.. I can just about turn a seam.. my problem is I have the attention span of a gnat so it has to be good to hold my attention.. curtains are boooooring beyond belief.. 2 side seams, a hem and a curtain tape.. curtain linings even more so..
I am going to rehome my treadle machine .. if anyone wants it please shout!.. and I am considering a restoration project on the rocking horse (it will cost £270 though so not yet!) and have decided on a decorating spree and a repaint of a bookcase we acquired from the house opposite which they threw out.. black outside, white inside and the same black wallpaper lining the back as is on the chimney breast.. it will be done eventually! Most of the downstairs is an ongoing project.. and it all needs redecorating and recarpetting and I am skint and my house is too full to even consider most of it.. it would be like tetris!
I still want to rehome the rabbit.. but I feel mean, I want someone to love him as much as we do but have time to spend with him which we don't have.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
