Another bag of stuff, including bag, left at local hospice shop.

Nothing bought as on a tight timescale

All four boxes from MIL loft now dealt with and only a small number of items kept :T

Still a way to go though. DS room must be up on the list as he is now 14 and many toys no longer required.

My money situation is such that I don't think I'll ever be able to retire. I wish I'd wised up years ago. I know money isn't everything and we can at least go to the supermarket without having to watch every single penny.

We have had a very productive afternoon. Bed is now remade with lovely freshly washed sheets. House is so nicely aired that DH was pleased when he came in.

Have got 2 big carrier bags of DD's clothes to go, she 'helped' and only cried over a too small pair of gloves.

Also, got a big carrier bag of my clothes to go to charity if there is anything that my mum doesn't want. This includes 2 dressing gowns. I don't have a great relationship with my mum (long story) and it can 'pang' to pass on really decent clothes to someone who doesn't appreciate it that much, but it stops me getting too precious!

Also, a book I finished today will go.

I think there are a couple of coats and a pair of shoes in the hall that need to be added to the pile (which is now in the car and which will go to work with DH tomorrow so I can't change my mind, lol).

Now I am collapsed in front of x factor.

I found a beautifully wrapped parcel in my side of the wardrobe. A box, wrapped in last year's wrapping paper and addressed to my aunt. I had to open it to find out what it was. I thought it was food and therefore out of date but it's slippers. (She did get a present but how can I have not given her that). She will get it this year, shame I have already bought this year's presents. It is now sellotaped up again.

:o Ummm, I may have done something not dissimilar a few times myself...........it's easy to do when you shop for Christmas presents throughout the year. I cured the problem by keeping a list of those I buy for in the back of my diary and writing the gift (and its whereabouts) alongside their name.

We clutter-bugs have to work with our inclinations, not against them.

Went offline last night and started in on two of the six books purchased yesterday afternoon. One is a dip in/ out sort of book and one is a novel. Novel 1/3rd read. I'm a scarily-fast reader, and would have so many books that I wouldn't be able to get indoors, but for the c.s. and the public library.

Today is a loungey-morning and up to the lottie after lunch. I have some bits to take to the electical section of the tip, inc a couple of very small things from the parents' place. Mum was muttering about the awkwardness of getting them to the place in their town and I said to bring them to mine as I swing by the tip regularly. Only I forgot them last Weds when we did the dump run bu they can go today.

I also dismantled as much of the defective steel Therm0s as I could and will put the steel bits in the metal recycling. Kept looking at the plastic flask cup, thinking I should keep that for..........? I slung it eventually.

I bought a stainless steel mixing bowl last month in the c.s. but the previous owner had abused it a bit by using a metal implement in it and it had some bad scratches. So it was floating around the kitchen counter awaiting attention. Actually did it last night (2 days after I got the stuff out of the shed). Polished out the scratches with 2 different grades of wet & dry paper and finished off with a Brill0 pad. Looks fab.

Took 10 mins once I'd got a round to it. Just now, I'm melting the last tiny bit of candlewax to fill in the last little bit of the last Pr*ngle tube candle, then once that's done, the candle project is finished for now. It's been fun but I want my metal tea tray back again.

The blinds I washed yesterday were still stinky after being through the WM so I've sadly had to bin them. The curtains are OK, so off to a friend who will repurpose them. All the other odds and sods (random picture, notice board, hooks etc) are slowly filling up the boot of the car ready for Thursday's CS run.

    Manky saucepan to go.

Also, a big cardboard box from one of DD's toys that has been nestling comfortably on top of the wardrobe. A pair of shoes.

dwasher is on. Some dry clothes need to be out away. I am thinking of getting a plug in airer. Does anyone here have one?

fixed the lightbulb on the landing, the window on dd's playhouse outside so it's weatherproof, fixed a frame and rehung a picture etc.

It's been that sort of day. Little bits that have annoyed me for months and months. The windows and doors are open and dd is playing outside in shorts! and now I'm going to do beggar all for an hour, other than knit. then the great bed-strip, washing away, children fed, bath/bed-time fandango.

:) Well, swung by the dump with the dismantled flask and the two electric bits from Mum's; a defunct computer mouse and what appeared to be a black plastic T0blerone but which was actually a defunct digital alarm clock.

Have gardened and then decided to work on the shed with my new (to me) tactic of just one more thing.

That is, to do one more thing than you were intending to do. Nothing epic, just a variation of little-and-often. So I grabbed summat out of the shed and disposed of it. Whole shed needs bottoming out and re-arranging but I'm not wasting a mild October day on that and had the ole digging fork out.

Been thru the ex-tattie patch again with the fork to get at the perennial weeds. Have discouraged some more docks, nettles, horsetails and couch grass. All currently very small but I know from sad experience how quickly they turn on you if given half a chance.

Found lots more nails and glass fragments but nothing either valuable or amusing, dammit. Oh, and the birdies are decluttering the seed heads of my sunflowers very nicely.

I was going to let the sunflowers dry out, remove the heads and hang them up on the shed for the birds in winter. Only I discovered that they were self-serving so when it's gone, it's gone, and no effort required on my part.
