ALL papers sorted and filed away!!! That may well be the first time for around 3 years. This frees up half a bookshelf as have put elsewhere out of the way...I may be able to have space for last lot of books and then all books away too!!
That was going to be it for today but put more washing away and sorted another 3 bags of general 'stuff'. Bagged stew and in freezer. Then ended up on the preparing for winter thread again lurking, so ended up digging around for a curtain pole for conservatory doors and doing a winter shopping list.......WAY too organised for me.
Hope the book sorting went ok Wisteria.
Well done, brilliant decluttering :T0 -

What a great site this is there is a thread for almost every thing
This is a thread I need, I am a horder and need to start doing something about it. I only have a small house and want a tidy home where I can move around freely without having to look at overflowing boxes of stuff everywhere.
I am not sure where to start? I also need some advise on what to do with the stuff I want to get rid of. Ideally I would like to take it to a charity shop so its out of the way but I am in debt (partly due to the fact I went through a stage of buying to try to make me feel happy - it didn't work). Therefore I need to sell it on ebay to start to clear the debt, but what do I do with it whilst waiting to list it, it seems I will just be shifting stuff from one area to another. Unfortunately I don't have an area that is out of sight (no garage/shed or spare room)
I have also joined the flylady thread as I need to keep up with the general housework along side of the de-clutter. Gosh I am going to be busy.
Any help or suggestions gratefully received
Thanks
Hello iammumtoone:)
I just found this brilliant thread a couple of days ago.
My tip is to check out earlier posts.
I pick a number and read the page - have found loads of good tips and can identify with the feelings of posters.
Very motivating :T W0 -
Thank you for all the congratulations on the new job. :j
Welcome Wisterias - this forum is brilliantI hope these good folk inspire you as they inspire me.
I've given myself a day off today - I left black dog and hi-anxiety at home and I drove off on a 100 mile round trip to watch my son racing (go-kart). Three 2nds :T and an 8th - after the throttle cable stuck on and he went straight on at a corner . No progress made in the house, but I feel better for climbing out of my rut.
Congratulations to everyone who has made progress :T.

Thanks roundtuit :T

So far I have washed two loads of laundry. Then I ironed the already dry washing (which I don't mind, I kind of like ironing), took it upstairs and then.........put it away.:j This is where it all goes wrong for me, it's a real sticking point.
I have also rehung the door curtain and put the chicken in to cook for later.
Now my sitting room that's another story, it looks like there has been an explosion of toys with numbers and letters written over the walls, thankfully only in chalk. The felts and crayons are confiscated unless we sit together, there is no way he is getting them while I'm dotting from room to room.
Well done parsniphead:T
Pinching the 15minute declutter idea tooW

Kitchen recycling out too.
I have a few boxes to drop at chazzer which the boys are doing later.. I need to refind the homework table in the backroom.
Brilliant:T
So much mess - so many places to start on.
Must stop thread hogging now and start the good work.:) W0 -

Anytime you get disheartened with it all pop onto the flylady thread, and the sloblady thread (which is hilarious).....doing that kinda puts things into perspective for me. As well as getting some good tips and a right laugh.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
DS popped in and we sorted some of his remaining clothes - a bag to go with him and a bag for the CS.
Sadly he left the bag here when he left....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
:hello:Hello all
Little and often flinging going on here.
Popped to Ike* last week with my parents whilst they were up and got some good things for proper storage like a nice new coffee table and tv bench, some boxes to pop DVDs in (I need more though, or less DVDs) and a shelving unit for all my work things.
Getting these bits means that I have been able to make better decisions about what is staying and what is going.
If the things I need for my job (clothing, paperwork and props) don't fit in the allocated space then I need to thin out what I have because I should never need more than is in the unit. Coffee table means that everything fits on that we need and looks neat, the top can remain clear which makes the room feel tidier, same goes with the TV bench.
I have dismantled the desk that was in the bedroom because it was just a dumping groud rather than a useful object, I have a desk in the spare room that I use so its going in the loft. I wish we could get rid of it all together but it is a furnished house so we can't, at least it can go out of the way for now though
Flung this week were:- Loads of stickers that I had had for far too long, my street dance kids took these off my hands
- A box of books to webuyb*oks
- our old laundrey basket from student days
- a box of felt tips that have been just hanging around unused
- Some lick and stick craft paper that was also hanging around, that went with the pens to a grateful teacher.
- the old broken colander that has now been replaced and some unwanted bits of cutlery.
- Some posters that I was using as prizes for the kids but kept forgetting to take to classes as they are a bit awkward to carry so freecycl*d them instead
- Weeds from the garden!
- recycling all sorted and gone out
- Some items of clothing ready to recycle/sell/charity bag
Don't turn a slip up into a give up

drum roll.......i have put away yesterdays washing, including the stuff nicely hidden in the tumble dryer. it took 6 mins, approx 3 of which was arguing with myself about whether the stuff in the td could wait until a later date.
and then, on a roll, I discovered a basket of clean washing from about 2 weeks ago in my room under some fabric.......... so I put that away too!
grand total 10 mins, why does this always seem like a massive job?
mind you that is all i've achieved today apart from binning the junk mail as soon as I came through the door. and there's the ever growing dirty laundry breeding away, but it is confined to laundry baskets.
I don't think this aversion to putting clothes away is a hoarding thing for me, i think it's an utter futility of the never ending drudgery of it thing, and perhaps more than a little bit of a laziness thing. ho hum - never mind, there'll be more of it to practice on tomorrow.:AA/give up smoking (done)0
