Thats all your choice though?
If you didnt pay the tax, your job would still exist and someone else would pay it
not really choice is it - because you can't leave your kid with some bloke charging £3 an hour. they have to be registered and you need 200 staff for every 2 kids or something ridiculous, so prices rocketed. if parents had a free choice, then fair enough, but through Govt meddling they are forced to pay extortionate costs.0 -

disgraceful. these tories need to be shot.
Surely as Mrs White Horse stays at home to look after the foals this has no impact on you whatsoever.0 -

Well it is. The choice is 'do i have a child' or 'do i work'
If you choose the former, then its probably a good idea to expect sacrifices of some form0 -
Forgive me - I have no kids - does this mean the government pay out more or less?Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0

But you chose to have kids, so why shouldn't you pay for the childcare? Why should you get anything back? (not being sarcastic but asking a genuine question)
Why should I pay for your state pension or any future life saving treatment once past pensionable age? You are no use to the country, so why not stop this wasteful expense too?0 -
Sorry, as a tax payer why should I be responsible for paying for other peoples children?
Because you live in a liberal democracy, and most people think that the state should offer decent families some help bringing up their children rather than leaving them to grow up on the streets.
Why don't you let that concept rattle round your empty head for a while and then see how it takes you?0 -

If they haven't had kids arguably they have paid a bigger contribution into the pot in the first place, helping to fund your kids (and possibly you and your £1m training depending on their age) education and welfare.
But don't worry about supporting them when they might need it. Whilst not wishing ill on them who knows they may never actually take anything out the pot."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

The_White_Horse wrote: »i think the real problem with the lefty is they have a problem grasping the fact that the salary someone earns is their salary and the Govt are taking those people's money from them. when you buy vouchers etc it is not a benefit, it is simply the Govt taking LESS of what is MINE. most people would have ample to pay the extortionate child care costs if such a large chunk of salary wasn't stolen from them.
it's like when the lefties argued that the rich were getting money from the govt when the 50% rate is dropped to 45p. They are simply TAKING LESS not giving anything.
bloody lefties and their warped minds.0 -
i don't need it. but i shouldn't be penalised because my wife stays at home. if I want to send my child to nursery, i should be entitled to the same treatment as potentially two parents earning £150k each.
That is where I disagree. Help with childcare when all the adults living in the family are working, but where one chooses not to work then it is wrong to expect the tax payer to pay towards childcare. If you choose not to work, I respect that choice, but then childcare is a bit of a luxury, that I am happy for you to choose - if you want to pay for it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
