Hope this doesn't harm single parent working families .
That would be stupid and short sighted .

Seriously? The tax payer is paying for people's kids to go to nursery?

Why do we want all these mothers in work and all these children in day care? Am I missing something?

And Really? Is it any wonder this government hasn't managed to clear any of the deficit?

It used to be 100% of the childcare costs. Now it's 70%.

It's good for the employment figures - you've got 2 people working instead of one. ;)

and replacing it with some drivel.

also, no assistance to families with only one earner. only two earner families.

disgraceful. these tories need to be shot.

So it is OK for me to be taxed to pay for your kids?

We never had that for our children.

  • If only one parent is working, the other one can look after the children. Therefore they don't need childcare. Seems obvious to me.

And if they can't afford to have kids on one wage, they shouldn't have them.

i didnt think you were able to get help with childcare costs anyway if you only had one parent earning and not the other under this govt or labour i'm sure it has never been the case. Are you talking about the two year old funded places for low income families? I'm confused.....

Childcare costs continue well after the child leaves nursery. Unfortunately for most the days of one parent working, one staying at home are long gone.

The direct and indirect tax our household pays from two wages, running two cars, meals out, holidays etc etc more than covers the small amount of tax relief we get on £120 a month childcare vouchers.

If one of us stays at home the state loses out by far more than the tax not paid on £120.
