When the poundbakeries started opening in this area, Greggs suddenly started reducing many prices. Their trade appears to have been hit massively though.
I think people will put price before quality, if you can get 2 for the price of one, there again is Greggs quality I do like there baguettes tough.

Unless you are self sufficent and rear and grow your own food none of us know what's in it. I enjoy a pie and a bun mass produced or not as long as it's not your staple diet no harm done.

I suppose I have been spoilt by growing up in a place where you can get freshly baked high quality pies & pastys from a good small local bakery. I was shocked when I first tried a greggs product that people would pay money for something so bad - even if they are cheap.

Unless other branches produce vastly different quality products, I am surprised that anyone would buy food from there.

Anyway, each to their own.

With Greggs having the monopoly in our town centres glad to see the £1 bakers (getting in there), one has just opened in my town centre and it's great busy busy busy and with Greggs putting the price of a vanilla slice up 15p in one go they have now lost my custom.

I agree, it's awful a company raises their prices amid rising costs.

Have had a look at their website and they don't seem to have any shops in the Midlands at the moment! Would love to see what happens though!

Never heard of them. Not that I'd be visiting either of them. Be good to see Greggs take a hit though. Used to be able to get four sausage rolls for £1.80 and now that's the price of two and a half. Bit of a harsh rise.

Pound bakery is just a trading name of Sayers. They sell exactly the same products as in Sayers, even from the orange branded trays, just much cheaper.

Wrights pies are the best I have ever tasted, shame they are so localised to Stoke and Crewe! They do a pretty mean sandwich too!

Wrights Pies freeze really well you know, so next time you are passing through you can stock up the freezer ;)

Might have to go get one for lunch now, I'm fancying a pie!

I've never heard of Sayers either (insert confused smiley here).
