With Greggs having the monopoly in our town centres glad to see the £1 bakers (getting in there), one has just opened in my town centre and it's great busy busy busy and with Greggs putting the price of a vanilla slice up 15p in one go they have now lost my custom.

We have a Pound Bakery opening in our town, they were fitting it all out last week. They have one in the next town to me & I must admit, they are pretty good value. You can get 2 for a £1 pasties, buns, bread etc. I think they will give Greggs a run for their money & could be big competition........:D
We have 7 Greggs  in such a small town centre so will be nice to see something & eat something different for a change.0 -

The £1 bakery have opened literally right next door to Greggs where I live! Needless to say there is always a queue in one but not the other :-)

When the poundbakeries started opening in this area, Greggs suddenly started reducing many prices. Their trade appears to have been hit massively though.0

The affordable food market is worth Billions, I am amazed it has taken so long for a competitor to see the profit involved.
Streets are awash with over expensive food shops, gregs had the monopoly on workers meals on normal pay.
They queue out of the doors and down the street.
The supermarket of takeaway food and they have a monopoly on it.
Talk about an opening.Be happy...;)0 -
In our city Greggs and the Pound Bakery are almost next to one another. There's a Greggs sandwich that I love when I'm out and about, but I once tried a similar choice from the Pound Bakery and it tasted stale and cheap. Give me Greggs any day!0

Over here Martins takes preference over Greggs, although I would not class either as having some sort of monopoly over the other. Personally, give me a Greggs Pasty\Pie over any of the lesser rivals.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Wrights pies are the best I have ever tasted, shame they are so localised to Stoke and Crewe! They do a pretty mean sandwich too!0

I like this.
It will be interesting to see how Greggs react.0
