Another 1 hour to add for yesterday. Have been trying to add in more weights as I keep reading that this is the way to go in terms of losing weight, particularly heavy weights and low reps. Does anyone do this??

Peeked my head around the corner of the free weight area in the gym yesterday, very male dominated and lots of scary equipment. Think I need to catch one of the gym instructors when it is quiet and get them to put together a plan for me.
  • Hello all.

Well something weird is going on with my body - not felt well the last few days and only thing that helped was a hot water bottle and chocolate. Feels a bit like PMT but only just had my period last week! Might be my IBS flaring up again. Anyway, I have eaten total crap, all meals plus snacks of mars bar, twix, chocolate orange, milkyway, ice cream and sweets etc etc and weighed myself this morning and I've lost a pound, gone down a % body fat and lost a quarter of an inch on my hips and legs - what the hell? Makes all this dieting lark seem pointless. Anybody know what might have caused this very welcome side-effect?

I've tried to be a lot better today and have managed no snacks except fruit so hopefully the chocolate won't come back to bite me on the !!!!

Have a lovely BH weekend everyone - I'm going to try and get out for a run tomorrow (for both fresh air and exercise) and then lots of painting and house cleaning/sorting to be done.

Hi Jess, to be honest I always thought you were supposed to go for high reps/low weights. It helps to build muscle which boots your metabolism and burns more calories but keeps you looking feminine. When I used go to the gym I loved hogging the weights machines while the huge men hovered around impatiently - I pay membership just like you matey. An induction sounds like a good idea but then don't feel scared to utilise the weights area, its there for you too!

After several weeks off the diet while I move house and have a long weekend at the Fringe I'm back on the grind. Last week's loss was 3.5lb bringing my total now to 138.6, 10 stone is just around the corner :)

+1.5 on, too much indulgence! Will probably be the same this week unless I can work off my bank holiday weekend pub dinners. :(
  • -1lb loss this week.

+ 3lbs since last Wednesday. My "worn out" state has been intermittent really. Have had a few walks to collect blackberries which has been a pleasant experience. The back garden compost area has kept me busy and am presently working upon the final bin load to empty. Still the usual indoor and outdoor cycling too.
Endless effort but wont give up.

    Good luck.
