  • Even though I'm annoyed by this month (in the short term) I've plotted a 2lb p/w chart and I'm still ahead by 3lbs, which is positive, but now is the time to start moving forwards again and keep on target.

Ruby; I'm hoping someone else could help! I know I need to work out, it just isn't something that interests me! (to put it bluntly)
It's about taking that first step, or more accurately, having the drive to want to take that first step.

I'm down 1.8lbs this week, and have walked a further 19.07km.

Even though I still don't feel any thinner, I've had a few positive experiences this week:

A year or so ago I bought a dress - I couldn't do the zip up, but they didn't have it in my size and I loved it, so I got it anyway. Tried it on on Friday morning, just to see how close I was getting, and to my surprise the zip flew up no problem. It's still slightly smaller than I would want for wearing out, but it'll be just right soon!

Also on Friday, I saw a friend who I hadn't seen for a few weeks, and she asked me if I'd lost weight (so it must be noticeable to some people, even if I can't tell yet!).

And then on Sunday, I dragged my partner out for a walk in the countryside, and we did 5.5 miles, which I believe is the longest I've ever walked in one go in my adult life (I know it's not much, but I'm not much of a walker, so it was an achievement for me).

I can report a -1lb this week. Finally going in the right direction again :)

10 hours exercise, all brisk walking.
a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library
  • I am reporting a 1lb loss this week thanks

Can I also add 5.8km Running and 5 hrs skating

Sorry again for the lateness but only just got home from training.

  • Morning everyone,

I'm giving my Fitness Pal a try (finding it a bit fiddly, but hopefully I'll get the hang of it!) - thought I'd try counting calories with my weekend away coming up, as I've been low carbing but don't find it very practical for when I have to eat out - if I'm cooking for myself it's fine, but out & about there aren't many choices for vegetarians that don't involve carbs! Just wondered if anyone had any experience of low calorie diets (which MFP is based on) as opposed to low carbing? Low carbing isn't shifting the lb's for me at the moment either, so it has to be worth trying something else.....
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

I'm no expert and what I thought/found out could have as many holes as any piece of online information, but I always thought low-carb didn't work long term because as our bodies need them for energy, if carbs are in low supply our body stores carbs as a back-up.

I dunno what you've tried and what you think/know but I'd guess try pick out the better carb meals when eating out.

While I've not tried it properly - the odd day or week a while ago - a low calorie diet made me tired and dizzy when standing up, etc. I'd probably point towards the 5:2 diet thread and info as a starting point.

For myself in Jan and Feb I simply ate little rubbish but the proper food I had smaller portion sizes and smaller plates and became aware of eating slower. Also, if say on an evening I'd normally eat 3 gingers I'd now have 2 or 1 or 0 if I didn't want one, scaling back without giving up the treat foods.

(I'm very aware any of the above can be seen as over-simple and condescending!!)
