A lot of newbie dupe posts these last few days?

I've just started taking some free time I have to search for comps and post the ones I could find that did not appear to be dupes. I took time to watch closely at how others were being posted and now I feel much more confident. I'd like to help out (however small) and the more we all pitch in, the more comps for everyone.
It's not always easy to find a Dupe but taking a bit of time to search it at least is something. I'd personally never post a comp without having done a search ot see if I could find anything similar. And it's the old rule, if you are unsure - ask!! It's a friendly forum!0 -
Hi,sarahann1984
You're doing fine & as you say a search is a very good idea pre posting. We can all be caught out though, myself included :-(
Some sites change URL's as well so that does not aid us :-)0 -

Why bother when someone has jumped in with the link and people are entering the comp? I'm sure the majority of them are self promotion.
I suspect they almost all are as well, usually with language I don't think most genuine posters use (Hey guys/fab competition/really easy to enter/head over to their competition page..simples/etc etc)
It wouldn't be quite so bad if they could at least post in the correct format.0 -

Got to agree.I had a stark reminder recently of how MSE is a "friendly forum".We therefore have to seemingly tread a fine line in our judgement of these new posters so some may just take the easy route & post the link & offer no tips re formatting etc.
I seem to be unable to take the easy route though & often report them or offer a few tips :-)0 -
I tend to report (usually without posting about it), in the meantime someone will have come along and added a link.0

That's just the helpful ones :-)
Hey-ho & off we go though. No point in looking at a posters history & googling the details :-)0 -

Here is one such comp posted a couple of days back that I am cynical about:

Think this thread is a nice example https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4671965
Especially considering this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4670137
I've sent a report to the mods
This was my competition , and i have no idea who posted it but i have shared on fb groups asking if people would pop it on , certainly not self promotion ... I did ask on the forum if there was anywhere on here i could ask for help !Massive Thank you to all who post comps & answers on here .i'm very grateful , good luck all.

How long before a "linker" adds one on this ?
