My DH is totally barking; a juvenile, practical joker of an ****hole.

Drives me nuts but I adore him. :o

I just play him at his own game - and win.

  • I sincerely hope men never grow up.

I'd have nobody to play with if they did.

Seriously, he's half killed himself for years and now he's got a life he likes, he can relax and think about sex and boobies as he is genetically programmed to do. The last time he had this freedom to laugh and smirk about stuff was when he was probably about 15.

And now, instead of being a teenage boy with hormones but mo social skills, or a middleaged man with high blood pressure, constant stress and a short fuse if somebody breathes the wrong way near him, he can relax. he has you. Someone he loves. And you're a girl. So boobie and bums are a real possibility. Any wonder he's grinning and making silly comments?

I'm biased. I have a friend who can make me laugh until tears roll down my cheeks and my entire body hurts. But he spent a long time not making jokes or smiling because his life made him expect more hurt or pain or loss or something - once he realised that the world wasn't out to get him anymore, he found that he has this wonderful, strange and twisted sense of humour that makes the pair of us sound like a couple of 12 year olds giggling in the pub.

Enjoy the fact your DH is being a kid again. You didn't particularly like the person he'd become as it wasn't the guy you married - you could hav forgotten just what a kid he was or he was on his best behaviour when you got together.

Either way, make the most of it.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I'm sorry but "getting old is compulsory, growing up is not" is not an excuse or reason for behaviour that is either crude or ignorant. If a child behaved that way you would not tolerate it so why should you from a older person?:(

I agree with this. I don't find toilet humour amusing in the slightest and wouldn't tolerate it from anyone at any age (like my husband or kids), regardless of their gender. I know it's common amongst young children, but it's not generally socially acceptable. If adults enjoy it, then it's up to them whether they embrace it in the privacy of their own home. It's got nothing to do with growing up in my opinion.

Innuendo is different and in my experience, just flirty language between adults. I don't mind it personally (occasionally), but can understand it becoming garing if persistant. I think the OP can only discuss this with her husband, but wonder if he's going through a transitional phase of lightening up as the stress of work has recently been removed. Hopefully equalibrium will resume at some point in the not so distant future.
  • Theres being flirty... and then theres being smutty... Smutty jokes are a right tun off, really pervy to me. almost as if the guy/girl is being that was because there not getting any. (in no way mean this to the OP, its just my opinion). This behaviour would be a right turn off for me...flirting on the other hand with a partner/husband is better.
