Do men ever grow up?

C'mon guys help me out here with some male perspective. I've been with my OH for over 25 years, married for 20 of them with two gorgeous kids and a lovely home. We are totally secure and happy, no problems anywhere and a rosy future together to look forward to.
He's a stay at home husband these days which he is quite happy with. He ran a business for many years and nearly worked himself into the ground as a result. The sale of the business last year has allowed him to take some time out and me to pursue some of my own career goals and we are for the time being financially secure. He has been able to take pay more attention to his hobbies and has been more social as a result so he's not starved of adult company. He has more energy for me and our kids and I do feel like I now have my husband back after years of him being totally absorbed by work.
So why is it that he's regressed to behaving like a 12 year old? It's nearly impossible to have a conversation with him these days without him resorting to smut and innuendo. He can make the most innocuous comment or question sound dirty and end up snorting to himself like some spotty oik in the playground. Its getting the point when I almost dread having to talk to him. So what's with the Finbarr Saunders act? Is it just excessive energy or what? The only saving grace is that he doesn't do it in front of anyone else, he reserves all the charmlessness for my ears only.

OH YEUCHHH!
Walk away from him! or dump a bowl of ice water over him.
If he knows you don't like smut and innuendo then he is doing it to annoy or get your attention.
really annoy him by sitting him down and interrogating him about what he just said! If its upsetting you hun - then it needs putting a stop to - only you know how to do this .
I am female btw - so perhaps the men on here could help more?0 -
I think we all do it to a degree. Usually it is confined to banter between friends and colleagues though and doesn't normally spill out into family life... well maybe just occasionally.
Does he have any friends with which he can get it out of his system?
As for growing up? No, not inside our heads. I don't have a problem with that.0 -
He is just getting it all out of his system before he becomes a grumpy old g1t and moans all day.:rotfl:0

Mine still thinks farting is THE funniest thing in the world. He's about 9 years old I suppose, 11 on a good day.
Then he goes to work and is mature and responsible.
And, yes, he thinks I'm boring when I don't think farty jokes funny. Fair all around.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Neither does my OH... but that just makes them MORE hilarious!!!

"Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional"

As a female of chronologically mature years - with a spirit which is still telling itself that a strange old lady has moved into the house [again, google can help] - I'm probably proof of the fact that it's not only men who resist the passage of the years.
TBH, an entire advertising and cosmetic industry is based on the idea that women are trying to resist the physical signs of ageing. :rotfl:
I'm also a smutmeister (mistress? Fnarr, fnarr
). So, I'm not well-placed to criticise his approach to life.
However, from the smutmeister point of view, I'd be inclined to ask him to drop his double entendres, if he really wants to show you that he's a man.0 -
Take in the above! Then make the time to sit down with your manchild and talk... Talk him into knowing how you'd prefer the company of a man!"Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional"
