Hi all;
First of all, (((HUGS))) Dusty; sorry to hear of FiL's diagnosis.
Arkonite fwiw, I use my own lists, as my needs are different from a lot of peoples' and also I prefer to stick to the same room on the same day iyswim; I come here for the companionship and encouragement.:o
Actually, I think the rest of this week's a bust - we'll start again with the weekend jobs that Mr LW helps with, tomorrow. After yesterday, I'm completely wiped out.
Horse-piddle was a total waste of time and spoons; I got a male Dr (having stressed when Mr LW spoke to the receptionist that I don't cope well with men) and he didn't listen to a single word I said, just went on with his own little script, and when I tried to get a straight answer, he wouldn't give me one. I'm supposed now to wait for an appt to see a psychologist, so will wait for the letter to come; Mr LW agrees with me that this will be another complete waste of time - I've already done one of their wretched "pain management" courses, and already do all the common-sense things as best I can; I was hoping for ideas on other things to try - like where can I get acupressure treatment, or would an intrasonic device help me. I only agreed to the psychology appt to get out of there - by that time I'd have agreed that the moon is actually a giant Gouda cheese if it'd have got me out of that room! I can now understand how false confessions can be obtained under torture!! We both now feel that we're effectively on our own.:(
Ah, well, things could be worse, I guess. We have tickets to "The Winters Tale" at MK Theatre tomorrow, so that'll be nice.:o
Some sad news - my old mate Dylan the Lurcher has trodden the Rainbow Bridge.:( I shall miss the old fella, he was a real favourite.
Sleep well, lovely Dylan. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW sorry to hear about Dylan, it sounded like he enjoyed his holidays with you too.
I've amazed myself with 2 hours in the RofD and can really see the difference. I am hoping like last weekend with the LR it will spur me on to finish it over the weekend.
I've found 48 second class stamps and some cash which I'm not sure who it belongs to - could be DS3 to go in his account or could be mine. Need to check back over the accounts.
Also openned a 5% Nationwide account for DS1 online.
DS1 just back off to work and DS3 will be home in 15 minutes so just going to sit and have a cuppa with a magazine during that time. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
RIP Dylan so sorry to hear about that LW,
did mils wardrobes, all she wanted me to do was take everything out then put it back putting like items near each other and colours of those items together. i was itching to cull stuff as shes got clothes varying from size 16 through to 22 but it wasnt mine to cull. moved the beds and furniture while there and hoovered the whole bedroom carpet so shes was happier and it was much cleaner when i left.

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
Sorry you had such a sh*te time at the horse piddle LW - I think it's outrageous what you are put through and I'm seriously considering getting the flylady bus out to give all these mega twerps a piece of my mind
Sorry to hear you have lost Dylan :A
Dusty big squishy huggles for you and your family following FiL's diagnosis xx
MrsG Same for you as you go through your difficult time xx
Arkonite I use the lists as a guide; it's totally fine to dip in and out depending on what suits your household best. Re SD, as others have said, it's crucial you and her dad show a united front. I hope you don't mind me saying so but beware of you becoming the one who does the disciplining while OH becomes the one who takes more of a back seat and does the comforting (to you and his daughter) after the event. My late partner and I 'fell' into these roles as he felt unable to upset his daughter in any way, including setting rules and boundaries that she didn't like (most of them!) and confronting her when she disregarded our rules. Find common ground with her even if it means sitting through films she likes and you can't stand. I'm sure you will handle your situation better than I did - I was very impatient- and your family will be strong and happy. Good luck!
Today I have chomped on a humongous frog and phoned Tax Credits :eek::eek: I don't like phones really and much prefer to email but not possible with TCs. I'd been feeling sick all day but was determined not to put it off until Monday and spoil my weekend worrying. The man I spoke to was nice as pie and told me calmly and clearly what I needed to do. Why can't they write letters in the same decent tone?? Especially when the error is theirs. The overpayment is only about half they claimed so won't have such an inpact on my sorry finances. Silly Bonnie getting all worked up
Last night I cooked a lasagne and DD criticised the way I portioned it in the dish and the way I dished it out. I'm sorry to say I threw the dishing-up utensil on the table and ate my vege dinner in another other room in silenceI also refused to mend the small tear in her jeans due to her earlier rudeness so she did it herself. Ha ha!!
I've only done the basics again today but will get cracking over the weekend - rockets up the backside to get me going would be very welcome!!*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
LW - ((hugs)) for the loss of Dylan & also for the way you were treated at the horse-piddle, I sometimes wonder if these people actually take a minute to actually listen to people  No wonder I hate going to the doctors, feel as if I am wasting there time most times when I am there.:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T
Long Term Flylady0 -
Partway through catching up with Fred- don't know how many more minutes quiet I will get....so Dusty big hugs for you and Mr Dusty for the days ahead with FiL xxxThe cold never bothered me anyway0

Thanks for your continued support it means a lot.
I'm flagging now so finishing off the flying for the day. Family Room has quite a few piles to deal with and I have not done inside any of the cupboards/drawers just the stuff which was already out, I didn't want to make it worse. Feel optomistic about sticking with it over the weekend though as there is no other flying to be done apart from laundry.
Bonnie well done for taking the sensible decision to do it now and hugs for dealing with kids, they can send you to distraction. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
he didn't listen to a single word I said, just went on with his own little script, and when I tried to get a straight answer, he wouldn't give me one.

I think your horse piddle Dr and my ESA torturer went to the same charm school, and to think our taxes over the years have paid for these systems to treat us so badly in our time of need, its crazy :mad:The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Not catching up properly, but HoneyBear, the Rescue I help out at swears by putting tablets in a knob of butter if all else fails - have to say it has worked with mine when all else has failed - think they're too busy drooling over the butter to spit out the tablet before it has slipped down! Perhaps you could mash the syrup into it?Work is not my Hobby0

Thank you all for your kind words, both about the horse piddle and about Dylan.
If anyone's interested, here's my ol' mate in action, last May.

The new Photobucket site doesn't seem to do MPEGs very well, but it'll give you an idea of what he was like.
I've managed to go round the parts of the bedroom that weren't done yesterday and the spare room with my nice new microfibre duster-onna-stick, so it doesn't look do desperately awful; dins tonight is pasta in HM cheese sauce, which I can do more or less on autopilot; I also add onion and tomato, and Mr LW prepped these and grated a bowl of cheese last night and left them in the fridge ready to use; he's also going to do his signature dish - egg'n'chips - tomorrow so I can save my spoons for the theatre visit.:A
I thought I'd mislaid my RADAR key; but it's turned up in my coat pocket, so that's a relief.:o
Bonnie well done for dealing with the TC stuff; glad the chap you spoke to was nice. From being a civil servant myself for 20 years, I imagine they have stock letters to use which they just fill in the blanks, and these letters are never worded in a friendly way. I'm a complete wimp with phones myself - I even leave the room if Mr LW is on the phone to his pal, such is my dislike of them - personally I reckon Alexander Graham Bell should've been drowned at birth!:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
