As an aside, my routines when I go back to work may not be totally Flylady but I'm picking what works for me and this lot. Is that ok do you all think???or should I be a bit more regimented and try to follow as much as possible?
How rigidly do you all follow flylady? Just curious, please don't feel you have to answer in minutiae0 -
Not very rigidly here arkonite. But I've been plugging away for a year now, and save the odd toys r us explosion, we are in good shape.
Just a little each day stops the grot build-up. Having the right tools helps too. I have a gtech sweeper like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/GTECH-Cordless-Sweeper-7-2v-NiMH/dp/B001YFSIT0 which means a quick whizz really is quick, no messing with vacuum cords etc. Even my 2.5yo DD can use it :T great for after snacks etc.
No advice about the older ones, though. Other than stick to your guns, get them to write some house rules, and when she's in a better mood, have a chat about everyone chipping in to make life easier for all. Or bribery! Pocket money for chipping in? Removal of phones etc for unacceptable behaviour? You and DH need to be consistent though. X
Today we are going up to town for some pillowcases from the bargain shop and some ribbon. I'm making memory boards: http://www.freewebs.com/canalecreations/memoryboards.htm firstly for DS for his new bedroom I'll be painting next week!Bossymoo

Off to update my list.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Rigid lists don't work for me as life is unpredictable
I use the lists more as reminders to look round a different room each day and see what I can realistically achieve in my flying time.0 -

Morning folks
Bossy, love the board idea, you are going to be busy, can we see the finished result?
Arkonite~ I guess your sd is seeing how far she can push the boundaries, firm fair rules are needed, as Bossy says, you and your OH must stick to the same rules. I would also say your house, your rules........she is still a child......

Morning ladies.
A. babe my DS2 is nearly 15. Their behaviour is all due to hormones whatever gender they are. I have no coping strategies as I struggle with my own teenagers. My DS is better behaved when he's full of home cooked food and tired from exercise.
Dusty big hugs x
DS2 has woken up with neck pain. He's had the frozen peas on it and is now in the shower. Inbupr0fen has not helped.
I need to get the packed lunches made and get the littlies to school. DH is away so there is a better atmosphere in the house.0 -

I think it would be very few who follow the lists religiously - even those of us who write them
They are aimed as a starting point to get people moving; our lives are all so different depending on who we are and who we live with. Do whatever works for you and even if you don't do anything from the lists you are welcome to carry on posting.
Just completely the morning routine. AF here today and the weather is wet so I plan to make progress in my RofDThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
morning all
hope all are well, hugs vibes and good wishes where needed.
spent an hour in the attic looking for the bookcase:mad: we found the sides but nothing else, looking at the one we have i think we cannibalised some shelves and made two out of one and im almost certain we gave one to the inlaws, so that plan has been given up on but the side have come down out of the attic and are NOT going back up, also spotted a pair of metal bed ends off a top bank but there is no way they base piece would have fitted up their which begs the question:o and theres a bm with a cracked bread pan WHY?????
i appreciate the lists but dont follow exactly, i done what i can or what is appropriate to me off them and know that by following them at least im giving every area of the house a bit of attention every week. it is looking much better than before i joined you all so im grateful for that.
I think we have too much stuff that we tend to hang on to so everything doesnt actually have a place as there isnt room for it all.
Im chipping away at the clutter and excess and do actually feel less burdened by it all.
A.Babe Hugs to you and yours let her know you love her and try to find some common ground, i think its teens in general not just the fact shes a step, but that puts extra pressure as its important she doesnt use it to create tension between you and her dad. in all things agree with each other and set fair boundaries but by their very nature and as part of growing up we all push the boundaries and see if they can be overstepped. the ones that really go off the rails are the ones who didnt have any boundaries set and werent pulled back when they overstepped them.
promised mil 2 hours this morning, she less and less interested in doing stuff for herself and things arent getting done so ive offered to give her 2 hours each week and she can choose what we do, whether its paperwork, wardrobe sorting or something else. eventually i can see myself doing the cleaning as well but she can still do it and i know if i offer that shell do even less for herself. i just think if i do a bit of something it might get her motivated to carry on.
Oh last night DS1 (hes 18) actually came down and said mum the landing looks really nice now youve swapped things round:eek: he is the last person i thought would notice:rotfl:
