Thanks everyone for such kind replies.
true to form the day has not been without several hitches. First of all the Mr (seller) said that he would come to the house to give us the rest of the keys but he called not long after we picked up the front door key from the EA and said that he had to work late and so he would post the other keys through the door on his way back from work. We were at the house until after 8pm and he still hadnt showed when we left. Until he gives us the rest of the keys we cannot access the back garden, the garage or the storage shed.
When we got to the property everything seemed fine until we walked in the kitchen. On the main wall there has suddenly appeared a large deep dent. It looks like someone has punched the wall with a lot of force. It has completley ripped the wallpaper and is VERY noticible. The plaster board underneath is also all cracked and dented in.
We are not sure what to do about it. It certainly wasnt there before. Luckily when we visited with the EA the other day I happend to take a photo of that wall and there is no hole on it then. I am not sure wether to call the EA or the sol about it. I am just a bit annoyed as we had not planned on decorating the kitchen just yet as the wallpaper and flooring would have been fine for a while until we got everywhere else sorted.
My Mum and I are going to be at the house all day tomorrow. I just cannot wait to rip out every last remenent of them from the place. It doesnt feel like home yet but I am hoping that it will soon.
I will let everyone know what happens tomorrow. Hopefully we will get the rest of the keys and I will find out what to do about our new hole.
Thanks everybody for the support.0 -

When I sold my house there was something in the legals about making good any damage caused during my moving out.
Get in touch with your solicitor.
Good luck with that.
Maybe he's not been along with the keys because he's not removed the missus' body from the garage yet0 -

Mr sounds like a real piece of work. What is wrong with these people?!
If you already arranged insurance with your mortgage you could claim on that, but it might not be worth it.
You could technically take action through your solicitor but it will cost. Given the attitude of the sellers I don't imagine the solicitor would get anywhere as the sellers will no doubt deny everything, ignore any letters, etc. etc.
It pains me to say it, but I think you should let this one go, at least as far as legal action goes. You have to consider if you can stand to have these people in your life for another six months...0 -
Hi bbbunny.
Sooooo glad this has finally happened for you!!! I hope you will both be very happy in your new home.
About the damaged wall.....I'd be well annoyed about it but after all the hassle you had getting this far I'd be inclined to agree with guppy and forget it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks everyone. I think you are right and I am going to give in on the hole thing. He dropped the rest of the keys around today and said that the hole was there before (I know it wasnt). He said that his daughter had had some friends round and that one of them had done it???
I normally hate stripping wallpaper but with each piece that I ripped off today the better I felt about the place. Its starting to feel more like home now, took the dogs down and they were loving the garden. We got there just after 6am because my hubby dropped us around on his way to work (my mom came with me) and we didnt leave until after 8pm so I am really tired but happy. We have stripped some walls and got rid of the horrible pub carpet in the living room.
We are having the moving van on Sunday and should be fully moved by Sunday night. :beer:0 -
bbbunny, I've been reading through this thread since the start but never had any helpful advice as it's not something I've been through or had any experience of. I just wanted to say I'm so glad that everything is finally going to work out for you (fingers crossed!) and that you deserve to really enjoy this house after all it's taken to get it!
All the best
