Thanks Tulip I think your good wishes have given us a bot of luck.

    ***Todays update***

So about 11am I called the sol's and said that I knew that they didnt have a lot of staff on today but I wondered if they had had any news. The sol's said that nothing had come through yet but they would call the sellers sol and let me know if there was anything to update.

I waited and waited and resigned myself to the thought that there would be no more news today. Then about ten minutes ago they called and said that they had got the redemption figure through at the sellers sol's. All they needed to do now was get in contact with the sellers to confirm the figure but guess what nobody can get in contact with them again. My sol said that the sellers sol seemed pretty confident that they would contact them today and be able to fax the info through either today or tomorrow.

My sol said that it looks as though we could be completing and exchanging tomorrow. I am scared to get excited though because we have been let down so many times. The EA was more excited than I was.

So once again I am keeping my fingers crossed ( I am going to end up with athritus or something from having to keep doing that).

In reply to Guppy yes there have been times when I have felt like not being quite so nice about this. As we are first time buyers we didnt even realise at first that the situation was as bad as it was as we had nothing to compare it to. We got the house at a good price for the area as the bathroom needs a lot of work (there are no tiles, flooring or basin in there at all) but my hubby is a plumber so it wont cost us much at all to put it right. There are also a lot of DIY jobs that need doing but as that is my hubbys passion it was more of a plus than a minus when we were looking at the house. My father in law has also been heavily involved in buliding inspection, design etc in the past and gave us a lot of input when making decisions. My hubbys best mate is an electrition and he also has friends that are plasterers, builders etc so we can get any work done for mates rates. My father in law also has done a lot of tiling and decorating at his own house and said that he is happy to help us so hopefully we can improve the property at a relatively low cost to us.

I know that we are going to have to work our socks off to get the place the way we want it but I am kind of looking forward to seeing how it comes out, and one things that has been good about such a long delay is that we have been able to buy most the stuff we need. The inlaws garage is so full of tiles, grout, wallpaper etc it looks like an outlet of B&Q at the moment.

So I will update tomorrow hopefully with good news.

You can take great joy in ripping the remnants of these people out of the house eventually.

It does seem that there is definately light at the end of the tunnel. I hope it's tomorrow, for your sanity.

One of the best bits about getting your own place is putting YOUR mark on it. We nearly bought a house that was near showhome standards, the kitchen and bathroom probably cost more than we plan to spend in total on decorating the place we got instead! But I prefer it that way. The place we are in is magnolia everywhere but that's good as we are putting our mark on each room slowly but surely.

I'm glad you are finally seeing the light at the end of a very very very long tunnel :D Keep us posted and fingers crossed for you both.

    Right is everybody sitting down?

I am picking up the keys at 5.20pm. :j

Remaining difficult until the every end the Mr is insisting that he cannot hand the main set of keys in until after 5.30 when the EA is closed so he said that he would like to come down to the house and give them to us and welcome us to the house, whatever that means!!

So the only key that I will have until he brings the main set down is for the front door. We cannot access the back garden or the garage until he comes but at least we will be in there.

I keep wondering if when he comes will he knock on the door or just let himself straight in. My hubby is at work and will not get there until after 6.30 so my brother is insisting that he comes with me so that I am not alone when the Mr turns up.

I have packed the kettle and some mugs etc in a back pack to take in the taxi and my hubby is bringing the dogs down when he comes. The taxi is going to pick me up from my moms and then take me to the EA's and then wait while I sign for the keys (sorry KEY) and then take us on to the house.

I dont think that I will believe it until I walk through the door but knowing our luck through this whole thing it will probably be the wrong key or it will break in the lock lol.

So now I am just sitting waiting trying to find stuff to do to pass the time until the taxi comes. Only about three hours to go now. :j

If you have followed this whole saga then you will know that I am fully expecting there will be more to this story so I will post later when we get back from there and let you know about the state of the house and what happens when my hubby comes face to face with his nemesis (the seller).
  • Congrats, I hope you enjoy your news house!
