Completion day update
If you have been following this sorry saga since the begining you will know that of course today is not going smoothly. It started when the taxi to go to the house was late picking us up and then said that he had no idea how to get there even though they had told us that they would def have a route organised. He knew the start of the route I knew the end but neither of us knew the middle. We muddled through and got there about 10.15.
The first thing that I noticed was that there were three vans on the drive and a mini skip. The next thing I noticed was the the EA was not there but the Mr (seller) was. He was on the phone when we arrived so I had a chance to quickly survey what was going on. The back garden had three teenagers sitting in it who didnt look like they were doing much. The garage door was open and there were some bits and pieces in there but the most alarming thing was the shed was still there. He finished on the phone and shook our hands and said that they were still moving stuff but should be finished soon. Inside the house most the stuff was gone but the sideboard and display cabinet were still there but they were empty and he said that they were just about to put them on the van. I asked about the skip and he said that the bloke was coming to collect it today but as its bank holiday weekend he is a bit busy but he will collect it in the next few days.
He said that he had received a message yesterday from my husband that he wasnt very happpy about as he said that he sounded quite angry on the phone. I bet you that if my hubby was there he wouldnt have said that as he is a big bloke and can seem a little intimidating. I said that my hubby was just a bit tired of the hassle.
I asked why the stuff was not gone and he said that it should all be gone in the next few hours. I said that I needed to call the sol and let her know the situation and he said that if I told the sol that the stuff was still there then it would delay it even more and cost us all money so the best thing to do was tell her it was gone so things could be completed. I didnt know what to do so on the way home I called the EA and explained to her. She said the best thing to do was just cut our loses and get completion done as the lat bits would be moved today anyway. So I called the sol and she said okay we will get completion sorted.
We arrived home just after 11am and at about 11.30 the phone rings and it the sol. She said that we have hit a snag (surprise surprise) and that they had not received the redemption figure from the sellers sol. I wanted to cry at this point because I knew this would happen. I asked how this affected things and she said that if it wasnt sorted soon then there would be no way we could complete today. I called my hubby who had a few choice words to say about the situation (most of them begining with F).
At 12.15pm the vet arrived to put my moms dog to sleep. I have never like the dog despite being a dog lover but I still got quite upset when it happend and my mom was crying from the moment the vet pulled up on the drive. After they had gone I talked to my mom for a bit to calm her down then at about 1.30 the phone rang again and it was the sol. She said that they still had not heard anything and that if they had not had the fax by 3.30 then there was nothing they could do today. She said that she keeps trying the sellers solicitor to see if they have heard anything but they are not being very helpful. She said that the figure was requested over a week ago and she cannot understand why it has not been sorted. She said that it does not take long for them to get the figure and then all they have to do is fax it.
I asked if what she thought the chances are of this being sorted today and she said that knowing Southern Pacific about 60:40 for it not to be sorted.
So now I am sitting here waiting for the phone to ring but I dont hold much hope. If we dont get the keys for this weekend then it will be a while before we can move because my hubby is too young to hire a van, I dont drive and my hubbys dad is going on holiday for over two weeks and then we are on holiday so this weekend would have been ideal.
Its also frustrating having to wait until after Monday now before we can pick this back up. GRRRRRRRRRRRR:mad:
Will update later.0 -
Any news yet? I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Just worry about completion today, the issues with the van etc will get sorted later maybe a friend will help.
Good Luck0 -
Hugs
So sorry that you are going through this - I hope it all works out.Always another chapter0 -
Thanks hev thanks everyone.
The sol called just after 3.30 and said that there was no way it was going to go through today now. She said that they are closed on Monday for the bank holiday and only have a skeleton staff in on Tuesday so it will be Wednesday before we can make any real progress.
I am more frustrated than angry. From the way they were talking it looks like the sellers sol waited until yesterday to request the information. My sol is not happy with them and said not to worry and that it will hopefully get sorted soon.
I am just glad that we did not book the removal van or that my hubby didnt book any time off work for this. I am just going to try and put it out of my mind until Wednesday now.
Me and my mom needed cheering up so we went to the shop and got some strawberrys and cream and sat and ate the whole punnet between us. Thats made me feel a bit better now. My younger brother will be home from work soon and I know that he is going to be really upset about the dog and my mom is still too upset to be any real help to him so looks like I have got that to look forward to.
Overall it has not been a great day but I am glad that I have found this place so that I can vent my frustration and use it as kind of a journal of our experience. Plus I get some great advice and support that has really helped me.
Hope everyone enjoys their bank holiday weekend and I will update soon.
Oh almost forgot to tell you, when I saw the Mr (seller) today he said that he didnt even know that his wife had put the house up for sale. He claims it was two weeks before he found out and that she only told him because she had somebody coming round to view it. How weird is that? I can understand why they are getting divorced now.0 -
I feel so sorry for you, try not to get to stressed out about it, easier said than done I know.0

Sorry things have snagged again but glad you find support here. Odd isn't how strangers can make you feel good ?!?!(been there, done that)
Try not to let it spoil your weekend, not worth worrying over things that are out of your control.
Have a good weekend and update us next week please.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Having read this thread I can't but think you must have the patience of a saint in dealing with such timewasters. I just hope you're getting a bargain on this house and your "nice" attitude didn't extend to paying these jokers over the odds.0
