    Morning everyone!

Just a quickie as I'm supposed to be working and I have to leave for a meeting shortly...

Glad to see you back, Smoky - wondered where you were. And pleased everything seems to be sorted for you, Scuzz.

Took the dog for a long walk in torrential rain this morning - it was beautiful. Although I've either got a cold coming on, or it's my hayfever starting. Hayfever is usually easier in the rain though so not sure which.

That's DD1 finished school yesterday - seems like only yesterday I was taking her to primary! Sounds like she had a fab day. I'm trying to convince her that school doesn't really finish until the exams are over and this is now study leave but I'm not sure it's working. DD2 has been behaving herself recently so I'm starting to chill a bit.

Joined pigsback this morning following Martin's email but I'm not quite sure how it works. I've got nearly £100 on quidco already. I told some friends about it and they've got 100s. I've learned so much from this site.

going to have to get back to menu planning though - and I like the look of that meat loaf recipe.

    Have a good day, everyone

    Morning all xxx

    Welcome back smokey
    Nice to read you Bargainbabe
Newster hope you locate the source of the smell soon. THat sort of thing drives me potty.
<<Crazychick>>It's horrible waiting for a response. Try not to dwell on it - I can imagine it's tempting to try to second guess whether he's opened it yet has he read it yet, what he's thinking, whethert he'll leave it til tomorrow.... You can't second guess, so try and do something enjoyable today to help distract you.
Spiddy I found it's faster if you use the post office "check and send"service. It costs a bit, but I got my PP back really quickly that way. However, I think it's probably best to go in person with only two weeks to go!
<<Kyle>>Have you had a chance to talk to your DH calmly now about what it was all about? Something is obviously on his mind. I know I'm often rotten to my DH when I'm fed up, even when it's not his fault. I try and stop myself, but I'm not always successful.
Spendaholic well done you on resisting the takeway and the express delivery. Hope the container gardening works out well for you, you'll be amazed at what you can grow. Cut-and-come-again salad leaves are a great investment. They grow quickly, and providing you don't cut them too far dfown, they just keep on growing. Much better than ordinary lettuce.

<<Hugs>> to anyone feeling tired, under the weather, or with poorly rellies

Had to rewash towels which I'd left on the line in the rain yesterday. They are back out on the line now. Second load in the WM.

Making sourdough pain de campagne today, one of our favourites. I keep a sourdough starter in the fridge, and we usual have one PdC and two ciabatta a week from it.

Not spending any time at the concrete face today, did loads yesterday, got down to ground level and all the way back for quite a few feet. Might get it finished next week at this rate.

I'm off to the gyym shortly, and then I'm having a semi permanent colour put in my hair. My hair is very curly so the grey doesn't show too much, and I usually have blonde highlights put in once a year. Inspired by you lot, I'm going for something else, and I thought I'd try having a bit of red in my hair. I did look at the purple, but I'm not that brave.

Managed to tempt ginger cat upstairs by using tuna on the staircase yesterday, but he didn't want to stay. This morning I spent about half an hour playing ball with him and his sister, and got him upstairs that way. He was ok opn the landing, but kept lwatching our bedroom door with fear in his eyes. Will keep encouraging him upstairs and on the landing for another day or two in the hope that he starts going upstairs on his own again. Poor boy has been sleeping on a kitchen chair, and it's just too small for him to loll about.

I was lying in bed this morning, under the fan which was switched off, and I could understand why he was so frightened. DH and I had a funy five minutes doing imitations of him, which made us laugh. I know we shouldn't laugh, I'm sure its just our way of dealing with the guilt.

Downstairs needs to be swept, kitchen needs a swish & swipe (when doesn't it?), and I think that's about it. Dinner tonight will be beef casserole with either mashed potatoes or dumplings.

Have a great day everyone, will pop back later and see how you're all getting on xxxx

  • Hi All,

Not posted on here for a while, but have been reading every day, I don't usually have anything interesting to say.
All that's changed though as I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant with my first child :j

I'm still in shock really, but thought that I should try and get back into old style if we want to be able to save some money for the baby.

Will try and post a lot more often now.

Scuzz - glad you got everything sorted with your boyfriend.

Good morning everyone, hope you are all well:D

I wasn't around yesterday, just didn't get a spare minute, finally got docs apt about my dizziness, had a blood test so will phone for results on Friday, feel better that something is finally being done! My training clients are dropping like flies with some mystery illness so I had yesterday at home and now I've got today at home too (pen-pen, I have PM'd you a running programme).

Spent yesterday alternating between trying to get advertisers into my magazine (complete waste of time!), housework (very productive) and baking (also productive). Made weetabix brownies and banana flapjack and finally planted my strawberry hanging baskets. Also did two loads of washing and managed to get them dry in between down pours, and mostly cleaned the house.

    Plan for today:

Fed up with magazine work so not doing any!
Housework left to do: Clean bathroom, hoover
    Ironing (boo hiss)
Baking - breakfast bars and more brownies (My OH managed to polish the lot off last night, bar one which has not survived my morning at home!)
Garden: plant broad bean seeds finally, along with some butternut squash seeds and three potato buckets.

No rest for the wicked, everything I get done today is one less thing to do at the weekend which means I might actually get to spend some QT with my OH for a change! :T

Hope everyones having a lovely day!

    Morning all

Yorkshirechick - Congratulations!!!! Is it your first??

Kyle - Hope things calm down at yours.

Been out for my walk this morning, done some basic housework and just debating about whether to put the washing out or not - it keeps coming over so cloudy and grey......

Feeling a bit creative so will go look for something to do - might get my card making stuff out.....or start my scrapbooking, or some crocheting, or some cross stitch.....too many choices!!

Before that though I'm going to make some banana muffins to use up the old nanas before the new ones come tonight in the Mr T delivery. Think I might need to make a quiche up too, some odds and ends of veg need using.

Catowen - Did you enjoy your first tesco delivery experience last week?? I must say I find it really handy.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi – just popping in with a coffee before I fetch DGD from pre-school and get absorbed in Plasticine princesses!
SCUZZ – so glad things are OK. The person who started the nasty rumours has got a problem, haven’t they? Obviously jealous and with no life of their own.
JRC – it will take a while for the antibiotics to work especially as he was really poorly but at least he’s taking them. I always feel glad when the second day’s doses have been taken because it is well and truly in the system then. You wait – he’ll be bouncing off the walls in no time!
CRAZYCHIK – hope your hear from you dad soon and that you sort our your passport problems. Have four things finishing on eBay today so will let you know how that goes. I played safe with just four this time. Still haven’t done my T&Cs but will do it them weekend and then run them past you! DH is supposed to be going to an auto-jumble on Saturday and Sunday so that should give me a big chunk of spare time to get things done without interruption, for a change!
RCHDDAP1 – Lily sounds great. I love it when their own unique personality starts to develop. (((HUGS))) to her.
DANNA – glad you are taking time away from the excavation! Sounds as if you have worked miracles and it must be satisfying but you do need to rest. I think it must be the bread you make that keeps you going in such a determined way! Sourdough thing sounds interesting – how does that work? Oh, and also, if you have time, perhaps you could post the Piadine recipe – have looked on other threads and can’t find it. Would be really grateful if you could, please?! (((HUGS))) to the cat and I know how irresistible it is to take the mickey out of them! Cats set themselves up for it sometimes, don’t they?
YORKSHIRECHICK – congratulations on your first pregnancy. Please keep us posted – I love babies even though my babymaking days are behind me now! I’m busy with the next generation, these days!
Well, sun is shining a bit and it’s really warm. Think it will rain later but might get a chance to take DGD out for a walk. She likes that and talks all the way so you don’t notice how far you have walked! Everything is prepped for dinner tonight – lunch, as always with DGD, is Marmite and cheese sandwiches, grapes and yoghurt – she doesn’t like chocolate (and none of us can understand that!) so fruit and yoghurts are her treats when she visits. EBay items finishing this afternoon and I’m going to be organised because CRAZYCHIK has told me how! Last time I got into such a muddle – it worked out in the end but I learned some lessons on the way!
We had a wonderful surprise through the post yesterday – MIL sent us some old photos she has been promising us for about six years, with a potted history about previous generations of DH’s family. Old photos are always fascinating, aren’t they? Our children and grandchildren will have really detailed records of us when we’ve all gone because we have such good cameras, camcorders etc but my generation still gets excited about the old black-and-whites and sepia-tinted faded photos! Anyway, I’m going to spend some enjoyable time scanning them and putting them all in order in albums for my DSs. I’m longing to show them the pics but I want to present them properly so I will have to make sure they’re hidden out of the way when they visit!
Anyway, must dash and collect my little princess from pre-school! Will drop in again later. Have a great rest-of-the-morning, everyone!

    Good morning!

So proud of myself to have made it on here before noon. Unfortunately reason is that the cousins are delayed in Frankfurt and now wont be in Dublin until 14.30 or thereabouts but bread is proving, shepherds pie ready to go in oven later, rhubarb ready for sponge topping so I feel that I can indulge for a little while!

    Scuzz....glad you got problem sorted with boyfriend;

    Amie...hope that your mum will be better soon;

    JCR....glad LO is improving...you feel so helpless when children are ill don't you, but he will be tearing around again very quickly I'm sure;

Smoky....welcome back the pictures are a joy.

Windy and cold here, but no rain so far, wont have time for garden to-day anyway.

    Have a good day

Yes, it's our first baby, so myself and DP are both very excited but nervous. It's such a waiting game. It's as though I've been told I'm pregnant but now I just have to sit on the news for another 7 weeks hoping for the best.

I'm not going to tell any friends of family yet - just in case, although I'm dying to tell someone which is why I had to post it on here!!

My estimated due date is 12th January, so just after Christmas which will be lovely.
