I don't think any of the Freesat Freetime boxes have WiFi built in, I think they're trying to encourage you to use direct ethernet, or homeplugs for better stability, but this one mentions using a dongle you can get separately, no mention of price. This one's good, and is available with a bigger hard drive.

As others have said, you don't record on demand stuff like Netflix or iPlayer, just imagine that someone else has all your recordings, and you can watch them wherever you like!
Not sure on the subtitles but I thought they did get recorded?

I think this is the one. I'll check it out a bit further, maybe download the installation instructions to have a look, then I'm ready to see if I can screw Sky for a better price. If not, I'll put my order in for one of these.

I'm danged if I'll be paying my pennies towards that massive £5bn football payout.

As discussed above, you would be better off connecting the HUMAX box to your router via a pair of home plugs, especially if you're going to be streaming HD content. Unless your wifi is up to it, you may see buffering issues.

From my understanding, there is no NETFLIX app on Humax boxes. If you require this, you may be able to get a Chromecast or another solution.

And the Humax DOES record subtitles irrespective of whether they are "switched on". A benefit of digital I guess. :-)

    I have a Humax HDR-1000S

I'm running a TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT AV500 extenders from an ASUS DSL-N16U Wireless Router 300Mbps - is that good enough in your opinion? Should I need another TP Link closer to the Humax?

Netflix has been available on YouView boxes since near the end of last year.

    Should be fine.

But sadly not on the generic (non-YouView) Humax range :-( - Or at least I can't find it!!!

Indeed. Which was why I stated 'Youview' and not 'Humax'. The standard Humax PVR's do not have on-demand capability. They merely record and play back.

Have you considered changing to BT for your internet provider and getting their YouView box? I find it much better than the Humax box I used before.
