Humax boxes are cheaper without Youview, so you can get a real bargain with one which just records without catch up.0

Wondering this myself. It seems the cheapest humax freesat with record function is close to £200. That seems a lot.Sigless0

Rev, we're talking about Freeview, and YouView - these boxes connect to an aerial.
You mentioned Freesat (and freetime), which connects to a satellite dish - the very same dish and direction as Sky.
Here's one with freetime (Youview for freesat basically - integrated on-demand) for £160.

If that's too much or you're not that bothered, find a Humax Foxsat HDR. I've had one for years and it's excellent, must be nice and cheap by now.0 -

That seems a lot.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Daughter has moved into a flat with no coaxial TV socket. There is a Sky dish as the previous occupant had Sky and the Sky cable is in the flat.
She doesn't want Sky but is it possible to get normal TV through a Sky dish using Freesat or something else? I have never had Sky so I'm not sure how it all works.Je suis sabot...0 -

She'll be able to get Freesat if she gets a Freesat box. Best place is from Humax Direct.

Is there one or two cables currently in the flat?0 -

She'll be able to use a recordable box then.
She could try one of the Manager's Specials - very good buy.

There are two cable inlets on a Humax Box, one for the Chanel you are watching and the other for a Chanel you may wish to record at the same time.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

She can either get Freesat from Sky (using an old Sky box), or Freesat (using a Freesat box): everything else is the same. However without a Sky sub the PVR functions won't work on a Sky+ box.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
