Thanks all - and Robin your advice is much appreciated.

Not been posting all weekend as I've been busy at home and haven't really had much time to myself.

Mr SA is ok although he seems to have picked up an infection, has been sick in the night and has a temperature of 38. He feels ill too. Yesterday he seemed fine, he was given a bag of platelets and has been ill since then. He is also wondering if it's the chicken he had for his supper. So at least this has ruled out the discharge "early in the week". Hope it's still on for the weekend though. I'm sitting here at work with no idea whether I'm breaking up this Friday or not!

After all my good intentions with my finances I have to confess I've been rather "spendy" over the weekend. I've not gone mad but have bought a few "bargains" and a couple of things from eBay (after a couple of glasses of wine on Friday night :o). I must keep off eBay after wine! I'm sure some pyschoanalyst somewhere would say I'm treating myself to try and make up for what has happened to me. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it (unlike my budget!!!). I think really this has identified I need to allow myself a treating myself budget.

  • You definitely deserve the treat!

Hope Mr SA picks up again soon Xx

Thanks Lucky! I don't feel quite so guilty now!

Forgot to mention one really important bit of news - looks like DS will be moving back home. His friend who he rents a room from has taken a dislike to the kittens. He's very houseproud and reckons they are making his house smell. He gave DS until the end of this week to get rid of them or move out. So he's moving out - the kittens are too young to leave their mother at only 3 weeks. The downside is we turned his old room into a gym when he moved out a few years ago and the gym stuff will have to be moved into the dining room. There are two upsides - (1) I'll have help with Mr SA if I need it and (2) he will be paying board (oh yes it'll cost him!!!). He claims it will only be until he saves up for a deposit on a flat.

    Good evening all

Mr SA not very well tonight. He's not being sick but feels it. He says he feels ill. Which is not surprising given what's wrong with him but he was fine yesterday so you can see his point. He had a beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to the ward to give to me tonight. There was a card with them saying thanks for everything. What a lovely surprise! Got them home and had to split them up unfortunately as no vase I had was big enough.

I haven't mentioned this before but since Mr SA got ill I've had terrible exzema/dermatitis on the back of both hands - it's so dry, itchy and sore as hell. Tried E45, sudocream, aqueous cream and oilatum. Nothing really working. I know I should go to doctors with it but when would I have time to go? I've had to stop using hospital hand rub as my hands are so sore. Bought a hand rub for sensitive skin but this still stings to high heaven. Chemist counter in Boots say I need steroid cream but can't sell it to me at the moment as skin is broken. My hands look a right mess and are embarrassing.

Have declared Mr SA's van as SORN. He won't be able to drive for around 6 months at least so no point forking out £220 for nothing. Also MOT is due and that won't be happening either.

On the DS front - his ex GF has agreed to have mother cat and kittens until they're old enough to leave her. At least I won't have to worry about dog harassing kittens!

Budget wise I have to stick to budget of £80 per week from now until payday. Today I spent £5.17 in Mr S but had £5 gift card from complaint I made a couple of weeks ago so only cost me 17p - bargain!!!

Yes....go to the doctors!! Tomorrow. Take time off work...you need it.

Wonderful about the flowers ...really thoughtful. The kind of gesture he wouldn't have been able to even think about/organise a few weeks ago..shows you how far he has come :) And DS coming home...make sure he helps loads! ;)
