    Good afternoon everyone

I am totally exhausted. 17 weeks of juggling full time work, hospital visiting and running the house and pets has left me drained. It hit me for six last night. I literally couldn't put one foot in front of the other. According to my trusty pedometer I'm doing an average of 22,000 steps a day! I know I'm not going to get a reprieve when Mr SA is out of hospital as he'll be a handful but at least I won't have all the travelling on buses. His sister has offered to go to hospital to see him on her own to give me a night off but Mr SA won't have any of it. He gets upset at the thought of me not going.

Have decided to pay the outstanding balance of £540 off my Barclaycard on Friday. I'll have to lend myself the money but I want to make sure it's cleared before the 0% ends which is in a couple of weeks' time. I'll then have to pay myself back as if I was still paying off the card.

  • 17 weeks. Bloody hell. 22,000 steps. SA!

So difficult when you don't drive. buses, trains, yeah they get there but it is a bind and so tiring. and can take so much time!

Is there any thing you can do to make easier? could his sister pick you up? I hated asking for lifts. I used cabs a lot.

Or can you do something on the bus? read? plan?knit! do you knit? I know you like to be doing and it does pass the time.

are you sure you can't do less hours? get someone else to walk the dog? do the shopping? Any chance you could stay at the hospital sometimes?

sorry, I just remember the wearingness of it all.

It is true once Mr SA is home you won't have the journeys and the routine will be in your control.

That is something to look forward to

    xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Hello Sun.A, :hello:

Good news about MrSA, but definitely not good that you're becoming exhausted! :(

Thinking back, when reaching that point but absolutely having to carry on, I used to take those lorry drivers' pills from Tosco:

They are only a short term fix, though. ;)

Hello everyone and thanks for the support :A

Mr SA continues to improve, although his blood counts are low but only to be expected a few days after chemo. Don't know what the hospital are playing at but last week I was told expect him home for a couple of weeks around 16 August, yesterday I was told by doctor not this early because of low blood counts and this morning Mr SA has informed me he is likely to be discharged early next week!!! I've phone the OT for the care plan to be put into place but she is on leave until next Tuesday.

As I sort my finances out on Friday, I've paid another £200 off the Barclaycard, so only £340 left to pay off now. I've paid the outstanding balance on my Tesco spending card and I've put £4.78 in my VSP so this now stands at £236.21. I've totted everything up and I will be fine until next payday as long as I'm careful.:)

  • I hope his blood counts improve soon :) I can only imagine how tiring it must be, I bet you never switch off. Please take care of yourself and rest. Hopefully he will be home very soon and there will be no more travelling that will surely help? xx

Glad to hear MrSA is perking up after his chemo. :)
Confusion over possible discharge date is, alas, the norm. :o
On Tuesday morning, hope you are able to 'phone the OT - preferably within two minutes of her arriving at her desk!
When she's visited and decided which aids to order, ask for the details of the company who will be supplying them - so that you can contact them yourself to arrange prompt delivery/installation. ;)
(I would push for the chair-lift as your stairs probably represent the greatest hazard to MrSA - already proven by experience - which should have been noted in MrSA's file).

Again; well done on the finances. :)
